Just wondering if anyone has used an adjustable Stroboscope to measure blower pulley belt slip? I will have one on Friday to test if it will?

Spend the money on a griptec pulley instead

Already have a few griptecs. This will just take all guessing out of the equation.

Hmmm don't think that'll work on a single belt.

How do you plan to do this with the balancer and blower pulley being different sizes? How will you collect the data at high rpm under WOT? Not saying it cannot be done, just wonder what your approach is.

I will mark the crank balancer and belt. I Will then start, and let idle. I will adjust the strobe speed and rotational timing to see if I can align them. Now, I'm just guessing, if it will works, if the belt slips the two marks will never align again. I will also mark the blower pulley and belt. I'm bored until I start winter mods.

The issue of belt slip will be at the blower pulley as the crank pulley has substantially more surface area. Also a ribbed belt will always have some slip, unlike a Gilmer or cog belt.

If you could install a hall effect driveshaft sensor on the blower pulley, you could reference that against engine rpm and know exactly what your slip is.

ive given some thought to this. if u get the rpm of the blower pully with a magnet and a sensor ect let ur brain run wild and compare it to the rpm of the motor make them equal to each other. u will start to get a difference between the 2 during slip. u could mark it but it will just say i slipped not when and how long hell it could slip the length of the belt and only look a little off or only slip on the hit vs top end ect.

I always wonder why people don't use cogged belts. We used them in the steel mill and they had a shit ton more stress than any blower would place on them.
2 inch wide belts on 400 HP electric motors forcing 1/2 inch thick steel belts into a former then into a HF welder.

3.5 inch to 16" diameter pipe when finished.

I would love to use a cogged belt but man look at all of the pulleys you would have to make. Lol

Well I will see how many crank (6.570) rotations versus blower pulley (3.300) rotations before the belt aligns with the mark on the belt again?.

I assumed a stand alone belt for the blower.

That would be the best way to drive it. But really, on our cars. If I still lived in Texas when all of my friends were racers, owned top tier welding and fabrication as well as a government licensed machine shop. Everything I would need to make it happen. But now days here in Indiana, I have yet to meet these kind of people. Lol
