Guys im doing plugs and some other maintenance on my 17 GT,
can I get an opinion on gearbox oil replacement? The car has 41000km on clock no problem to report, is it worth changing auto box fluid with such low mileage considering its age?
im doing the plugs despite no sign of wear. I have done the coolant and flushed replaced with the new yellow stuff.
this part under the engine vanity cover I can’t seem to identify it’s use? Can anyone tell me what it’s for ?
it’s a piece of wire with a loop in it ?

IIRC automatics can be finicky about fluid changes.

Not sure about that wire. It looks captured under the stud which the engine cover plastic mounts to. I dont remember ever seeing that on my ā€˜16. No idea, but doesnt seem important.

No…but it sure looks like an elongated grenade pin to me, and I’ve pilled my share of them as a combat engineer šŸ’„

Gearbox oil change at 40000 cant hurt the car IMO.

I did mine at 30000 and the fluid was not really red anymore and there was some stuff on the magnets but nothing alarming.

Factory fill looks to have life yet but you are removing break in crap.

Trans was shifting normally before and after the change.

I've done the coolant switch too. OCD got to me seeing pink coolant in the reservoir after a drain and fill to the new yellow stuff so I pulled a reservoir hose and poured in water till it ran clear, then put in yellow. So did that twice lol!

No idea on the grenade pin, wonder what that blows up??
