How would you characterize the handling of your Mustangs in stock form: understeer, neutral, or oversteer? Please be sure to say which model/submodel you have.

Thanks!

Ecoboost manual premium non-pp 20" wheels. I ve noticed a little of both under and oversteer. Nothing excessive but a little in stock form but only when pushing it.

So I take my 15 GT PP to the track once a week and I love it. There is only one tight corner I have understeer. I have had no problem with oversteer. Hope that helps.

It is hard to determine whether the chassis is inclined to understeer or oversteer in a rwd car. Just about any RWD car can over steer. If I were a betting man, I'd say stock suspension and chassis is setup to understeer. That said this thing can get tail happy real easy. But I contribute that to lack of grip.

I have the Eb with PP and I feel like it's neutral so far. Although I can get it to rotate with some throttle. I'll be at the track this weekend and I'll see what it does at the limit.

Neutral with a slight bias toward mild understeer. It's an amazing setup for the street and exactly what I was hoping for driving-wise.

The nose tucks in the moment you lift off throttle and you can trim your line with the brakes very predictably. Out back, the rear is way more buttoned down than I expected and I'm going to go against the grain ITT and say it's far from tail happy. You can provoke oversteer, but you really have to give it the beans with the needle in the upper reaches of the tach, and once you do get the back to step out, it's so incredibly gradual and controllable.

The balance is better sorted than the overall ride quality and damping. I think the damping is mediocre at best. Lots of uncontrolled secondary motions, takes too long to settle in a turn, and it kind of hobbles and juggles its weight across all four tires when you go over a sequence of expansion joints on the highway. I was actually kind of frightened that it wouldn't meet my expectations for my first day or two of ownership where I didn't push it on any turns; it does not show its competence until you push it a little. At cruising speeds, it's a little clumsy. At least from what I'm used to.

Thanks

GT entry and mid corner understeer. Power on oversteer easy.

EB less entry understeer, mid corner neutrality/ slight understeer with power on neutrality/slight oversteer.

Are you saying this after driving both back to back at their limits? Which one do you own?

I'm really pleased with the car as it sits, but it needs better dampening and perhaps stiffer springs up front. At the limit it does plow with some understeer.

With my evo you have grip 24/7, it's a very raw car. It's totally different, I think with a few simple mods this thing will be a beast.

Interesting you mentioned the Evo being "raw". That is the feel i'm after with this platform (im still on the fence between turbo or v6).

I'll ask you since you have the most experience- To get that "raw" feel would simple suspension mods/tuning and wheels/tires do it?

I am a true believer in more chassis than power.

Thanks for your input.

cheers

A bunch of things make a car feel raw. One big one is noise. The mustang has so much deadening that you can't hear anything. This also adds weight, with the evo you hear the drivetrain noise, motor noise, etc.

With an exhaust and what not the car will feel more raw.

Another thing, there are a lot of bushings that need to be done on this car. I did poly bushings on every joint with the evo, the car became instantly tighter.

Coilovers are another big thing, after a big dip this car kind of bounces.

With some minor work this car will give you more feedback, it just needs some work. As it sits I'm very impressed.
