What's the general consensus on fixing/replacing worn out buttons on the steering wheel? This is making the whole car feel worn out since its right in front of you.

not a difficult thing to replace. Buy the part, remove the airbag, couple of screws and a connector, reassemble, done

If it bothers you, replace it. That would bother me so I would buy new controls and swap them out

Wheres a good place to get them? Local dealer is always more than the other online ford parts places.

levittownfordparts.com is always a good online Ford Parts dept. Their shipping prices are a little high but the parts prices are always good and they are 5/5 stars otherwise.

Only things I buy from my local ford are big parts where we're dealing with freight shipping prices and I want to inspect before I accept (like body panels, etc), or tiny parts where I just want them today and don't mind paying 50% more. Everything else I buy from Levittown.

Hit up Levittown on here too. Benny can usually give you a discount code for shipping

Odd this topic came up. I've had this hanging out in my browser for a while now. Just haven't pulled the trigger since mine really isn't that bad.
Have your VIN handy if you call them. Otherwise know that there's a difference '17 to '18, the functions switch sides, and there may be some other changes between models.

After looking, might think of replacing all of them

Yeah my OCD would kick in if only some of them were new. Might as well do them all since you’ll have the wheel off anyway

The cruise control buttons just pull off without having to remove the steering wheel. I would assume but don't know for sure that the others pull off as well. I bought the whole switch but found out the buttons just pull off and snap right back on. I would show a pic but I'm nowhere near the car.

I wonder if you can just buy the buttons, that would be a cheaper option. Maybe when I replace mine, I'll see how hard it would be to print new ones.

I've never seen any places that just sell the buttons. Rock Auto had the cheapest switches when I looked. I recommend you get real Ford parts.

Hey OP you can always try something like this.

I've seen these overlay stickers work well on other cars before, just never on a newer mustang. It has cutouts for the button ridges and supposedly they allow the lighting to pass through when the headlight switch is on. If you google this style of sticker overlay, or check amazon, you can find reviews and see that these usually work well on other cars. They are also a cheap option for worn head unit and AC controls

You're going to want to clean and use a paint pen or something better than a sharpie to paint most of the button back to black first.

I was originally going to go this route, but I have all new switches and trim parts coming in from levittown ford this weekend.
