What's up M6G!

New guy here, still learning about the s550. I've been a new edge guy since they came out, but now I'm daily driving a 22 GT 301a 6spd car. It's almost nothing like the new edge cars I love, but still cool. Anyways...

Does anyone here have experience with the steeda pro action shocks? I ordered the sport suspension package and I have some concerns about what I've got here. From every picture I've seen of aftermarket shocks for these cars, there are welded-on threaded fittings on the mounting tabs of the shocks. Mine don't have any. Do y'all know if this looks right? Even steedas pictures on their site have them.

I've called steeda 5 times over the past month and still have not received a callback about my questions. Is any of this the norm? Any information is much appreciated!

the flat bar is threaded for the hardware, i'm sure it was just an engineering design change and they didn't update the media on their website. If you're worried about it, torque them down, then put a nut on the backside

Thanks. Been waiting a month on them. I've already gotten more help so far in the last 19 minutes here.

Sounds plausible enough. Do you know if the previous versions were missing the threads in the location that mine have them, or do you think that they were removed for being redundant?

That's highly unusual. Normally if you ping @tj@steeda you'll get a reach-out.
Seeing as how the bar is now threaded, the welded-on nut is no longer needed.

The 0774 number is the one I've been using. I've spoken to two different people, for a total of 5 short conversations that end with me being told that there's only one person there who can help me but he's always on the phone with someone else or out of the office.

I see what you’re saying there. I have KellTrac Vikings on my car and they have t-style mounting brackets (like your pic.) on the top and bottom of the shock. The only difference is mine don’t have threads like yours. Here is a pic of how mine mount up (not the best pic, but you can zoom in and see they bolt in from the bottom because the RLCA has threaded standoff’s cast into them). Unless I’m missing something with how the Steeda shocks bolt up, I think you’re good to go.

Here’s a pic of the factory shock and you can see the threaded standoffs cast into the RLCA.

I don't know this for fact, but my assumption would be the previous version was unthreaded on the straight bar, and the nut was threaded, then either for reduction of manufacturing cost or idiot proofing from people zipping hardware in and snapping the welds, they were removed and threaded direct.

Sorry for the late reply. This was a simple design change to remove any possibility of a bad tack weld with the nuts. You can install with confidence.

you can't have BOTH threaded. Either the flat-bar (or previously tacked on nut) is threaded or the AL base is threaded. I would be VERY surprised the casting is threaded. Should just be a clearance hole to pass-thru the fastener.
