Hey @tj@steeda, any chance on redesigning the rear lower bushing isolation insert? That two-piece design is a royal PITA to install, actually took longer than the rest of the suspension combined.

Good to hear as I plan on installing a very similar set up this weekend. On account of this wonderful DMV weather, I haven’t been driving the car very much. I’ve had these parts sitting around for over a month

I got Stop the Hop kit installed today and this is exactly what my installer told me. Nothing against Steeda but he told me that the 2-piece is a PITA and how hard it is to install when compared to the BMR CB005.

Learned a trick during my install. Grab 2, 12 inch 3/8 drive extensions and connect it together . Insert it in the subframe bushing hole and pry away while inserting the 2 pieces, some lube also helps. Took me less than 10 mins to install after i figure it out.

Sounds like you're 'drifting' things into alignment. If so, a length of steel round stock with a taper ground on one end might work even better.
A longer version of something like this ↓↓↓ with a less gradual taper if room on the back side is limited

Yeah sort of. Anything long and sturdy that fits into the subframe bushing bolt hole to give you leverage to move the rubber bushing for more space to slip in the support pieces.

You can probably squeak by with some minimum drop springs, right? Get a we bit lower... nothing scrape-inducing. Nice setup!

I've installed those a number of times now. The concept of "it must be easy to install to be good" is ridiculous, first of all. It's certainly nice, sure. Secondly, no... it's not hard. It's frustrating, especially if it's your first time, sure, but not hard.

I put some Energy Suspension Lube on the back piece, use a angle pry bar, and pop the sombich in its slot, match the opposing side, then screw down the allen heads. You don't need to be nice to it. It takes very little time and you get the added benefit of covering significantly more surface area of the bushing you are intending to stabilize than the CB005's bushing piece. Steeda's bushing supports really are a great design from an engineering standpoint.

Yeah all those cut edits don't show how much cursing and headbanging was going on in that shop!
In my circle of car friends, we say that it's a job for Bill meaning total PITA.

As far as the install goes, I learned a really helpful trick. I removed the rear wheels, lubed the hell out of everything and used my trusty C-Clamp to guide things in.
The first side took me 3 hours and when I came up with the clamp thing, the other side took 15 minutes.

Oh yeah I got that girl nice and wet before ramming that piece in there but it still protested quite a bit. Not my first rodeo, can't remember exactly how many I've had to install. Still, not a fan of installing those rear lower pieces. If the customer is happy I guess all is good, I just know that won't be the IRS bushing isolation kit I install if I ever got an S550. Love the rest of the Steeda product line though!

I installed a very similar set up on Saturday evening. With the only difference being that I opted for the Ford track dampers instead of the pro actions. I’m still in need of an alignment but I concur with the OP’s description after the Steeda suspension upgrades. There is no brake dive or squatting under hard excelleration and it corners flat under moderate cornering forces. I have yet to really push the car but I’ll take it out more after an alignment’s been done

Glad you found a nice set-up with the Steeda gear! If you are ever looking to opt for the Pro Actions - let us know :)

I'm still grinning. And I really can't believe how much better the trans shifts, that's really surprising.

But.....

I had this occasional clunk from the rear end before, and now with the firmer suspension it's happening more often. It sounds like either part of the exhaust is hitting the underside of the car, or the tire inflation kit is banging around.....

Dunno, probably take it back to Grimace just to have him double check everything still is tight and fine, and maybe hunt around for that damn clunk.
