Right. So the answer to the thread is #drivermod

I'll accept that ;)

A solid example of what you mention above can be seen at The Firm in Starke Florida. It's a 1.5 mile track with about 11 turns. The owner of one of the Steeda development cars (yellow GT) with about every mod on earth, with good tires, runs 1-2 second slower than my bone stock car with only CB005 and worse than stock tires. He has been to the track a few times, and me, only once ever. Natural born driver, I'll accept it! :headbang:

You should try and make it there sometime. How long of a drive is it to Starke for you? The car to beat at that track is modded like yours...except less, and all BMR (cb005 too) - would be sweet to see if someone can out run him. He just started racing, as a convert from drag racing, and thus far no other Mustangs can even get close to him.
Kelly, We never had a test car on the track at Stark Florida from Steeda?

Never the less Yellow S550.

Just checked with our engineering team and validated.

Like to know who this customer or imposter is.

Thanks Mike D

Plus, let me know the next event you will be at, the Steeda team would like to join you.

They would love it if we could get a group out there, spoke to them last time and if just us only it would need to be 12-15 cars so might be better for one of the open track days.

I'll be in full Steeda setup but on aging 20' MT Street Comps until I wear these out and move to a better 19' setup. And I'm very aware when Stoli is near me on the course so I don't slow him down as he wants every bit of time he can get and I'm out for a Sunday drive compared to him lol.

Personal opinion on BMR vs. Steeda - no two companies, that manufacture their own parts, have a better presence on this forum with top notch customer support. How easy is it to go straight to the source for both of these companies?! I've met the Steeda team in Pompano and the owner of BMR at The Firm. Just good people all around that make great parts.

Win/Win no matter who you go with.

We are not really big into marketing. We do not really sponsor...nor give people incentives to acquire and promote our product.
Any time you want to give me an incentive I'll be glad to take it. :)

stoli we need to have an event just to get some S550s out to beat your times at The Firm. ;)

Also, did the yellow car ever get into the 1.20's yet?
That would be great. As it is I'm relegated to playing with 'vettes and they're still slower and tend to run off the track when I come up on them (see my last video lol). For a short track it's pretty technical and suspension plays a large roll compared to brute power (I've seen a Mazda 2 outpace a S550, *cough* *choke*).

I'd really like to see that Steeda car out there and run with it and see how we compare on the same day. That car with every suspension piece possible and a 'pro' driver vs me and my cradle lockout, new vertical links, and eBay used tires. I'd certainly hope it's 2+ seconds faster, but something tells me it won't be.

More on topic, I've bought from both companies and had great experiences with both. One thing I respect greatly about Kelly and BMR is when he has discouraged me from buying certain parts based on my application.

I have Steeda springs and sways with BMR vertical links and looking at the BMR LCA bearings. I support both businesses cause they are both forum sponsors and both very willing to help and develope new parts for our cars. Quit arguing and be glad you have companies like these two. Try building a couple of cars with absolutely zero aftermarket following and you'll appreciate it.

Let me start out by saying that yes I am a Steeda supporter. I have their parts on my car and I enjoy them. I have also had other Mustangs going all the way back to fox bodies with their parts. I have never tried a BMR part on any of my cars and that is because I have never had any problems with Steeda in all the years I have dealt with them. I also like to to browse this board because sometimes the info is helpful, sometimes the info is funny, and sometimes I just get a kick out of the mods that people do to their cars.

All that being said congratulations on the results you speak of. I must admit Kelly some of your threads are extremely helpful and demonstrate your knowledge of the S550 but on the same token a couple posts read like a National Enquirer headline.

You say you prefer results well why don’t you ever post them? Below is the link for the Optima Street Car challenge both the Auto-X and Road Course the highest finishing late model Mustang was in the 30 something position. I get that it is your job to toot the BMR horn whenever possible but maybe toot it when your sponsored cars are finishing in the top 10.

I suspect I will get ragged on by your faithful and probably thanked by the Steeda faithful but before all of that happens, just state the actual results. 30 something is not the greatest of results in my book. But again all of this is just my opinion!

Hey Mike, I greatly apologize for the misinformation.

I meant to say Orange. The rumor is that it was used by you and Nitto? You know how those pesky rumors go. Nonetheless, it's got every Steeda part I believe you make on it...and all stickered up to prove it

What kind of lap times do you turn at Sebring? I heard you were at Camp Steeda our Sebring event. Plus, maybe Kelly can chime in on their lap times as well at that event. Several Steeda cars were at that event, it was a blast. Our records and accomplishments supporting our customers for the past 29 years will be posted shortly. At the end of the day let's give our customers good info and be proactive for all.

I fully respect everyone's opinion.

Point taken. Now my question is, "30 something" in Optima is better than "nothing something" no?

My point was that there were (5) S550 Mustangs that participated. The highest finishing (4) use BMR. None of them are sponsored. They are normal dudes...and do alot of winning through out the year.

I rather work with our customers to get to a specific level and reap the reward....than throw a ton of money at them to claim supremacy.

Right. So the answer to the thread is #drivermod
I would hope it would be a point that is respected. Respecting the driver's influence as the primary influence, which it is, especially at the level of amateur 'time trail' and 'racing', is so much more important than BMR vs. Steeda parts. If you're claim about the yellow/orange GT is true, then you just exemplified and proved my point... right? :clap2:

A convert from drag racing is still probably a more skilled driver than me. But I'm happy to have a target to shoot at. What's the time I need to target? How should it be timed? In what context was the time achieved (so I put myself in a similar-enough environment)?

FIRM is 5-6 hours away from me. Cost me more than I have free flowing in the wallet lately to accomplish the entire trip there and back, hotel, dog boarding, track fee, track insurance, etc.. But just need to plan for it. And I certainly will, Kelly. Looking forward to it.

^Yup. I was using that to back up your point...that you said I missed. Lol.

I will let you know next time I go. Be cool to see a large M6g group out there.

I can't commit to being there "the next time YOU go". Would love to, and hopefully it works out that way, but I can't. My job isn't car parts and racing cars.

So... what is the time that I need to be targeting?

Honestly, I couldn't tell you the times Allan ran, as I stopped paying attention once he started racing the car without a proper tune and a few other things I'm not quite on board with. But that's fine, his car is simply used to ensure our parts hold up. With him behind the wheel on Hoosiers, there's not a better way to test their durability.

Maybe I'll get my car there for some testing soon. For now I've been really enjoying The Firm though.

SR Performance is where it's at! Just kidding.

I debated this myself and ended up getting some of each. Picked up the CB005 from BMR and poly differential bushing supports from Steeda on BF. Can't wait to install! Curious if I will need vertical links too and will be kicking myself for not getting some on BF special if I do.

lol - slow. I've only been there twice and both w/in the first 6 months of me ever being on a track. My best timed lap was a 2:41:26. I felt I had some better laps that day but Harry's was giving me fits. ;) I know I was giving up time on Bishop's Bend, turn 17, and turn 1. I just didn't (don't?) have the confidence to push really hard on those. The same can be said for turn 8 @ The Firm.

Now that I have a lot more seat time and better brakes, I think I could easily pick up 5, maybe even 10 seconds @ Sebring, but I'll still be a ***** in 1 and 17 unless someone else is picking up the tab if I hit a wall.

Edit: Just looked at the Sebring lap again; it should indeed have been quicker. I was held up a bit coming out of 5 and I'm a wimp in a lot of places. lol

FWIW, I made the mistake of buying SR Performance bump steer kit figuring what could the difference be? Ultimately I ended up having Steeda install some parts, including the bump steer kit. The difference between the SR and Steeda bumpsteer kit bearing was night and day. I will never touch SR Performance crap again.
