Figures my first post on this forum would be about brake squealing issues and not about how much I love this car...
In any case, I let my dealer know about the brake sounds several months ago. Originally, I was told both "it should go away after they're worn in" and "it's a characteristic of the car" by different people at the dealership. After attempting to deal with it hoping that the former was correct (which it wasn't) and not being satisfied that the latter was my fate, I took the car in on Monday morning to have them look into it. At that time, I had no idea there was a TSB for the brakes that was issued over a month ago.
Within 3 hours, the dealership had "completed" their assessment and deemed my complaint was just the car operating normally. The guy even went so far as to tell me "Ford actually put it in the owner's manual that the brakes might squeal." Uh, ok...that's a little odd, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. So, I picked up the car and headed home.
Last night, on a hunch, I decided to research TSBs for the vehicle. First thing that pops up is TSB 15-0030 for the brake squeal. I was pissed. Why the hell didn't the service department see that when I dropped it off? I ended up sending an email to the guy in sales who ordered the car for me (and who has been nothing but outstanding...honestly, I can't compliment him and the rest of the sales department enough) which he then forwarded to the service dept.
I ended up getting a call tonight from the service manager apologizing. He stated that the TSB must have just come out and that Ford didn't have the replacement parts out yet. I informed him I had a copy of the bulletin showing the issue date was March 10th and proceeded to read off the the part #s needed.
End result: I'm taking my car in once the parts are delivered and having them complete the work per the TSB. What a friggin' headache...
