Figures my first post on this forum would be about brake squealing issues and not about how much I love this car...

In any case, I let my dealer know about the brake sounds several months ago. Originally, I was told both "it should go away after they're worn in" and "it's a characteristic of the car" by different people at the dealership. After attempting to deal with it hoping that the former was correct (which it wasn't) and not being satisfied that the latter was my fate, I took the car in on Monday morning to have them look into it. At that time, I had no idea there was a TSB for the brakes that was issued over a month ago.

Within 3 hours, the dealership had "completed" their assessment and deemed my complaint was just the car operating normally. The guy even went so far as to tell me "Ford actually put it in the owner's manual that the brakes might squeal." Uh, ok...that's a little odd, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. So, I picked up the car and headed home.

Last night, on a hunch, I decided to research TSBs for the vehicle. First thing that pops up is TSB 15-0030 for the brake squeal. I was pissed. Why the hell didn't the service department see that when I dropped it off? I ended up sending an email to the guy in sales who ordered the car for me (and who has been nothing but outstanding...honestly, I can't compliment him and the rest of the sales department enough) which he then forwarded to the service dept.

I ended up getting a call tonight from the service manager apologizing. He stated that the TSB must have just come out and that Ford didn't have the replacement parts out yet. I informed him I had a copy of the bulletin showing the issue date was March 10th and proceeded to read off the the part #s needed.

End result: I'm taking my car in once the parts are delivered and having them complete the work per the TSB. What a friggin' headache...

So no more squeal after the fix. However now the dang things are dragging I had my wife hop out and listen and it's both fronts.back to the dealer I go:( maybe I'll test drive a pp gt while iam there...
Yeah, not very encouraging at all. The service guy has order the parts for my breaks. Now I wonder if I want them to replace it. :frusty:

Has anyone who had the TSB done experience this same problem?

You guys are not encouraging me here. Combined with the fact that my squeal seems to be greatly diminished now that our humidity is regularly in the 15% range, I don't think I can duplicate the issue for the dealer. I haven't heard from the brakes in two or three weeks. Yesterday I drove the 35 miles from our house to the Boise airport. Secondary roads, some urban streets, some freeway, and then crawling through a parking lot. Not a peep from the brakes.

I don't know if that is good or bad. I'll bet the sound comes back when the weather changes again, but if the fix isn't a fix I don't want it anyway.
I don't know why you think the fix isn't a fix. I would say the majority of the people who received the fix aren't complaining anymore. I'm not. It worked for me. No squealing even after I wash my car. Good luck.

So far there have been only 2 owners to have issues after the fix. The other person was MVP but his did it when he turned very sharply to one side but he hasn't been back to update if it's still occurring. Good Luck.

Glad this is getting taken care of. Send over a PM with your VIN, mileage, name, phone number, and dealer info. I'll get this escalated. :)

Message FordService on these forums with your information and include your VIN, mileage and what dealer you plan to go to. Get that ball rolling now just in case you get the "we can't reproduce the noise" excuse. Good Luck!

I seem to have had one of the worst examples of the brake squeal - I posted a video back in one of the early pages in this thread.

I had the TSB repair performed on April 7, and have put nearly 1,100 miles on it since then. So far, my car is completely quiet.

I ended up working from home last Monday and Tuesday, so my car sat in the drive way for 4 days without moving. We had a couple of rainstorms in that period, so by the time I drove it Wednesday morning it was cool and damp outside and I had visible flash rust on my rotors. Despite all of that, they made no noise whatsoever when stopping at the end of my street.

I am prepared to call this fixed.

Thanks. It's amazing how similar the sound is. I think my recording might be worse only because I had to stay on the brakes longer and I was in a parking garage which provided some really good reverb. LOL. Did you listen to mine?

Yeah, I saw yours when you posted it. It really seemed like once it started, there was no stopping it.

When I recorded mine, I had been listening to it for at least 5 minutes as I idled along in heavy traffic, and probably had another 10 minutes after I stopped the recording.

I don't spend a lot of time (energy) caring about what strangers think, but it was definitely starting to get on my nerves that people in other cars would stare as I screeched to a stop in rush hour traffic!
