Hi,

I also have this annoying chirp, it appears about 1 minute after cold start and goes almost completely away when the cyl head temp reaches about 180 F.

Did anybody try Ceratec to cure this issue?
Does it help as it seems to do for the BBQ tick?

I'm living in Germany and my dealer says the mentioned TSB is not valid in Europe (yet?) so he refuses to do anything.

Tom
Hi Tom,

I dont know about Ceratec's ability to remove this chirp but there is a TSB where the mechanics need to change timing chain tensioner and the noise goes away. I really had enough with my car and finally got rid of it :( It was a painful decision but really I felt like I paid 40K for having a car that did not inspire me confidence when it comes to reliability. I had all of the following which finally made me starting to doubt my purchase: 1-engine BBQ tick 2-2k RPM rattle 3-paint chipping super easily 4- second and third gear lockout (shitty transmission) 5- suspension noises. 6-chirping noise (this thread) I said enough. I willl probably be getting sn95 mustang. By the way I have had 9 different mustangs so far. Good luck

Thanks, I know about the TSB, but as I said, the techs in Germany refuse to repair, because the TSB is not officially released here.
Funny enough, this chirp is there since they changed the timing chain and the tensioners because of the BBQ tick I also have.

According to the Ford SSM posted in Post #2, it only applies to the 2018+ 3rd generation Coyote.

Maybe the tensioners they put in your 2nd Gen 2017 Coyote are the same defective ones used in the 3rd Gen - ?? Not sure if those parts are the same in Gen 2 vs Gen 3 Coyotes.

update:
I had the TSB 19-2140 completed and the chirping and BBQ tick with new oil is gone. The engine is completely smooth and silent like it should be...

Did it chirp when warm or cold? Asking because the tsb specifies when the engine is warm. My engine chirps when cold but stops chirping once it's warmed up.

Same, it didn't on cold start but as the engine got warmer (85-130 degrees) it chirped. Once it reached full temp is was gone. Now it doesn't do it at all.

Good to hear your problem is solved now. My temperature range is a bit different (110-180F), but the behaviour is the same. Completely cold no chirp and fully warmed up no chirp.
I wonder why the TSB is only for 2018+, as the symptoms on my 2017 are exactly the same and I checked the part numbers for the chain tensioners, they are identical for 2017 and 2018+. Am I the only one with a 2015-2017 with this problem?

The TSB said gen 3 engines built before April 30th 2019 I think. You have a Gen 2.

Wonder if there has been an updated (superseded) part number? Are you sure the tensioner part numbers you looked up were the latest numbers.

Well I looked up the part number of the chain tensioners that is mentioned in the TSB, which is JL3Z-6L266-C. And this part number fits Coyote Gen 2 und Gen 3 (MY 2015 and above). I also found that this part number replaces FR3Z-6L266-B and JL3Z-6L266-B.
So yes, there is an updated version of the chain tensioner. What I'm trying to say is, if there is an updated version (because the old ones had problems), why is the TSB only for 2018+ if the parts are the same for 2015-2017?
Of course, I don't know for sure if the part numbers for Gen 2 and Gen 3 were the same BEFORE JL3Z-6L266-C was replacing the old parts, but I would assume so.
