High cylinder temperatures, high EGT's, lean conditions. That is usually destroys a plug like that. However it is possible the plug was damaged during installation. So do you know why it ate the plug?
Neither should be a problem.I gapped mine to 0.028, but I couldn't get the electrode flat across the tip. It is more curved so that the gap is 0.028 on the end and tapers to about .030 as you go inwards. Is this going to be an issue?
Also, using the pliers to help set the gap left some marks on the electrode. I am worried this will weaken it in the heat and break off?
I would ask them to give you some support on which sparkplugs to use for your vehicle. This is a vendor's post that put in the time to do some research (well I did) and give information to the community. The least you could do is give them support or not post a link to a competitors site in the thread. If lethal is your go to, ask them for some support.I get a discount from this site by using points from previous purchases
You are completely right my apologies did not even think of that.I would ask them to give you some support on which sparkplugs to use for your vehicle. Ahhh yes... that brings back some memories...lolInteresting thread - the same was true about stock plug gaps for the 2.0T Genesis Coupes!!!
We had a huge thread over on gencoupe.com about the very same thing... The 2010-2013 2.0T stock plug gaps were not consistent at all, with huge gap variances between the (4) plugs. We all did the same, pulled plugs, re-gapped and in MANY instances folks were even reporting greater increases in fuel economy.
This thread has been extremely helpful. I don't know squat about tuning, other than my service manager has me concerned enough not to get into the ECU since Ford will know immediately via SYNC.Upgrading the spark plugs is not a bad idea, I have recommended this to all my customers that have more than just an intake. NGK 6510 will serve you well, I'm also a huge fan of Denso ITV22 .
