thank you for this pic because i think these people are getting the idea that the MGW is like 2 inches off center lol...

look you guys do realize that the MGW Race Spec is the ONLY shifter that actually maintains the EXACT location of the trans output shaft.

It eliminates the factory triple jointed linkage which is why the oem , steeda, barton etc can be perfectly on center because they are in reality NOT centered with the trans.

the race spec goes so far beyond the other shifter designs that it feels just like a top loader.

I will be moving the top handle over a little in the next batch to appease the masses but as this pic clearly shows we are talking like a 1/4 to 3/8 inch here. lol

PLUS...the true center of the gear pattern is NOT the 3-4 gate in any event since the pattern goes twice as far to the left as it does the right.

So.... with the RACE SPEC you get..

EVERYTHING replaced, linkage, pivot cup , pivot mechanism, internal springs, fully trans mounted with ZERO lockout issues. perfect alignment ...

and the small offset issue is soon to be gone so there will be nothing left to make a desperate critique of.

George
It does not bother me that the shifter is off-center by only a bit. What I do care is that when the shifter is at neutral position, it is aligned to the 3-4 gates. Is this still the case with the new design (for your next batch)? (I am almost sure it is.)

Currently I am experiencing 1-2 (and sometimes 3-4) grinding/lock-out. Will bring it to dealer tomorrow. If it is determined that the issue is caused by deflection, I will be seriously considering a shifter upgrade. As mentioned before (in another thread), you know which shifter I will be going with. I like the design/concept of MGW, and I am in Atlanta.

Disagree. MGW is great for sure.

I liked the pull-up reverse and design of Steeda. Went with them for that very reason. Plus I am a huge Steeda supporter. You can't go wrong with either one, honestly. It is like picking blonde, brunette or a redhead...

I love your analogy Todd lol, I'll take the redhead.

Liking and wanting the pull up reverse is understandable. Hell, I thought I had to have it back when I was replacing my shifter but It wasn't going to stop me from getting another MGW.

Liking, loving what have you a particular brand is great but in my opinion staying loyal to one brand is not always the thing to do. Your only short changing yourself sometimes.

I love Steeda, I have been buying their parts for years. I've had good and bad experiences with them but ultimately they are great.

That said I like to buy who makes the best (IMO) on a part by part basis and not just stick with one company.

I have a variety of brands on my car because I like to be open minded and purchase who I feel made the best part.

That's said, looking at shifters alone in my opinion MGW hands down makes the best shifter. I mean night and day. Replaces 100% of the factory parts, impeccable quality of materials and manufacturing and the outcome is the greatest shifter ever made.

Again, my opinion but I just wanted to say 100% brand loyalty is not always the best approach

Ok, the blonde..... no brunette....... Redhead, no I want them all! Don't tell my wife.

If you plan to race your car then the MGW is the way to go. Love it. Makes high RPM shifts so smooth. It is a little off center, but I'm ok with it. Once I paired it with the GT350 Knob its a match made in heaven. One of my favorite mods so far. Highly recommend it if you have the MGW.

Here is a vid of me putting it through its paces. You can hear those beautiful shifts!

Some of you are literally looking for a reason to not buy the best shifter on the market to save $40.
I wish people would stop saying that. It's literally over a $100 difference between the Steeda and the MGW. I just checked.

According to steeda's website ..list is 499...our list is 475

Steeda has it marked down to 439....with the forum discount we offer code MGW6G2015 the mgw goes down to 451...

So what am I missing here that's 12 dollars

I'm not going to put actual numbers out there, but I can tell you that it was $100 cheaper when I ordered mine this weekend. Even using forum discounts. And again, I'm not knocking any of these shifters. In my eyes they are all great products, some of us just make choices for different reasons. The Steeda made sense for me. Maybe I'll come across someone with an MGW and make the switch, who knows. I'm done debating this. There's a shifter out there for every Mustang owner.

I had never thought it to be off center untill reading about it but also never looked at it from the back seat lol

also in a youtube comparison the negative about the MGW was its movement under full throttle conditions

Likely so. In fact I am hoping this is the case, as this would mean that a shifter upgrade will solve it.

My only concern is that I don't want to lose warranty b/c of aftermarket shifter. That is why my V6 is at a dealership right now, as I need the dealer to identify the issues first.

For the record, after a typical promo code our shifter is $395 shipped, so it is absolutely more than a $12 difference.

Can't wait to see The Menace's and Marvelous D S550's review of the very popular Tri-Ax. I know s550_Arctic_Knight had a different shifter at first and made the switch to ours after just one day of using the other one - never looked back.

Blitz wrote a pretty in-depth review as well.

Todd15Fastback svtfever D.Brown glad you guys are enjoying the new shifter!

Yes, yes I am.

Since I am a virtual employee and work from home 100% of the time. I may go days and not drive my car. Since my shifter install and other new suspension parts, I will take the car out for a 15 minute drive as the shifter is that good. It really changes the feel of the car. That is not a lie either.

Their product is THAT good.

Thats really all that matters, the end user being happy with what he bought.

Just going to give my opinion. Both Steeda and MGW shifters are quality and great products.

I feel if your car is more for racing and not so much daily driving then I think MGW would be the best. The only thing I like about MGW is it gets rid of the floppy dick shift linkage. NVH seemed to be a little more prominent in MGW vs. Steeda. Steeda is a more well rounded shifter for me. The shifts are nice and short, shifter is centered in the console (OCD killed me with MGW) and I like how you can choose the spring tension. There is some increase in NVH, but with the radio on I can't even hear it. Daily driving with some racing this shifter has performed extremely well. I haven't been locked out yet and I've put the shifter to the test. Only improvement that can be made is an alternative to the stock shifter linkage. hint hint David lol.

I have had both shifters by the way.

Yep. If Steeda didn't come out with one, MGW was getting my money.
