Been reading about the top 3 shifters this week, fresh snow currently in Michigan so have a few months before I get under the car. From everything I've read I want the MGW, but the fact that it doesn't sit center in the housing would drive me insane. Why would the MGW not seat center in the housing and the blowfish mounting bracket does? or does that not sit center either? Torn between the MGW and the Steeda just because sounds like the Steeda would be the second best to the MGW. Side question, does the push down reverse still activate the rear camera like with the pull up reverse?

yes MGW still activates the rear camera. MGW has 1 finger gap on right side and 2 on the left. Im pretty OCD and never noticed it until someone pointed it out. Getting rid of the junk pull up reverse is a big reason to go with an MGW. It likes to rattle if you use a shifter strengthening mod, makes the shifter longer than it needs to be because it has to pull up, and it just feels cheap.

Sorry for pointing it out. Lol

MGW says it to give you room to go into reverse. But I don't understand why none of the others are like that. Still a great shifter. Glad I switched from Boomba and blowfish. That was a good combo but had more NVH than the MGW

Steeda is nice, firm and the throws were shorter. But still has pull up reverse which makes it a lot taller which I didn't like. And it was a little more notchy. Also I have heard it gas more NVH than mgw.

The Steeda Short Throw Shifter sits 1" lower than stock, it's actually not taller at all.

Well its not as short as the Boomba I had and the MGW I have now. Maybe its the Reverse Pull Up that makes it look so tall.

Ugh, so then it sounds like they are aware of the issue and have decided not to adjust so that it mounts centered. I'm still really intrigued in getting the MGW. This is a daily driver. I mean, how heavier is the movement over stock? Do you really have to throw it into the gears or is it just a tighter box which could be taken as heavy?

This is why I like the Steeda short shifter. It comes with two different spring sets to change the shifting feel. The lighter springs provide you with a better feel for Daily Driving. It's also cheaper than the competition and performs just as well.

I don't feel that the MGW is to heavy. Feels great. Stock sucks ass. Its just a limp noodle floppy dick shifter.

I went with the Steeda and love my decision. The Steeda shifter sits low. I can lay my arm on the center console and rest my palm on the shifter ball.

Here is my Steeda review:

Tri-Ax Shifter - This shifter is a beautiful piece of art. The throws are sooooooo short and so precise. The height of the shifter is perfect. You can just rest your hand on the center console and your palm just rests comfortably on the shifter ball. The throws are bolt action rifle precise. It goes into the gate with minimal effort. I have the soft springs installed. There is a nice weighty feel when shifting. The very first time you feel the shifter after it is installed, your jaw will drop at how different it feels over stock. After 2 days, I am now used to the feeling and it is a glorious thing. You get a bit more noise from the Tri-ax vs. stock shifter but it leads to a more mechanical, visceral experience with the shifter and the car. The downshifts are so much faster now vs. stock. It is almost like we have a DCT in the car, no lie. If you are on the fence about buying a shifter, just do it. You will be happy you spent the money. It really changes the entire feel of the car and driving experience. This is the BEST aftermarket shifter I have had installed in any of my Mustangs since 1991

When you say it has a bit more noise, what noise do you mean exactly? road noise, mechanical noise? I have a borla S exhaust, would I hear it over that?

MGW all day long. It isn't stiff at all. I can pretty much shift with one finger. Plus, I have never missed a shift with it.

Doesn't sit in the center, if it did I would have already purchased it. I already know that the majority would say MGW.

I haven't noticed it not sitting in the center. Look, if it wasn't the best shifter on the market then I would sell it and buy another. I started out with the blowfish and then ordered the FR shifter. Once I realized that the FR reused the stock linkage and then all of the other shifters use the stock linkage, I knew MGW was the only way to go.

if you didnt know it was off center and looking from the drivers side you cant really tell. You can see it if you look straight from the top but who looks at it from there. Has zero effect on the shifting.
