I'd approach this from another angle: Do a climb-in, climb-out test on a large sample of cars considered eligible, and decide if the entry-exit factor outweighs other, attractive, aspects of the vehicles. Somewhere the value curves will cross, and you've found your new car.

For my part, getting in and out of the '18 GT Premium is always a hassle, some days or circumstances less so than others, but always worth it.

That’s pretty sensible. I’ve always wanted a Corvette. But Every time I’m about to pull the trigger on one. I try to contort my larger than average frame into one. And quickly change my mind.

@Lgb0250 go get you a GT premium w/A10 and you won't want to get out of it. Trust me on that one. :)

If you're not into the noise, get an HPP EcoBoost Premium.

Yes. I've gotten in and out of many. Just too low. Another reason not to lower the Mustang. Just that extra inch makes it difficult.

I'm 60 and have had my Mustang for five years and I have loved every minute of it. You do sit low in the Mustang but the driving experience is fantastic I have always been very comfortable driving it I have even driven a 350 mile trip with no problem. The only problem I have sometimes is getting out if you can swing the door all the way open then it's easy to get out of but if the space is confined then with my bad knees I can have some problems. Overall I wouldn't have any other car than my Mustang and now I have it payed off I'm hoping this year I'll be driving her a lot more.
Totally agree. I'm 73 6"2 189 and once your in the cockpit its very comfortable. Getting out requires pre planning and some flexibility.
Its all worth it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I’m sold. Funny how so many of us have all had the same cars. Must be in our veins! I also have had a Miata the first year it came out. Grossly underpowered but a blast to drive. Also had a 68 Corvette. Was fun but too expensive for an Army enlisted man back then. Had A new 70 Dodge Challenger R/T that was also a blast to drive. Really wanted the 426 Cuda but couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger. Then married life kicked in and I got sensible.

Now that I probably don’t have that many years left I really want a little fun before the grim reaper catches up to me. Thought the BMW would do that but it doesn’t stir those memories That a sweet V8 does.

Now picking the right one will be the trick. What does a price of $34900 for this 2018 GT Premium look like as a starting price. It is a CPO with only 2400 miles on it. Dealer originally asked $36950. They say it was sold to an older couple that couldn’t get in or out of it! LOL. Gave me the sob story how they put more into it because they were trading them out of it. My first thought when hearing that is that they have probably had this for awhile. Hopefully the original sticker shows up since I’ve uploaded it.

Nice find. As for the price, take a look at the car fax, that will give you an idea how long they have had it. I would go with 32-33k. Depreciation alone is about 35%. CPO adds a little and only 2400 miles is pretty good on 2 year old car.

For me I would ditch the 10spd for the manual. Not worth the $1600 to me. If I were only going to have one fun car as you said and it was a Mustang, I would get the manual. If you have some medical issue stopping you from getting the 6spd, then the auto is ok consolation. Whatever you end up getting, good luck with it and have fun!

57 laps around the sun today. If you want a nice ride with the option to firm it up on demand, I highly recommend getting the Magneride dampers. You can thank me later.

For the sake of comparison, I bought a new, left over 2019 GT Premium 401A 6 speed car with 35 miles on it three weeks ago for an agreed upon price before taxes of 36,200. Sticker was nearly 45k.

For the life of me, I can't understand why us old coots would get a Mustang without magneride. Best feature of my Mustang next to the 5.0. I mean the ride is so much more enjoyable. I thought the ride of my 2013 GT Brembo was great, but compared to my 2019 PP2 it's a different animal.
Yeah getting out of it can be a little difficult with the side splitters getting in the way and being so low, but who wants to get out of it. I mean, it's not like you can't get out of it. It just takes a little planning and practice.

I'm 62 and pretty athletic w/ no real mobility issues except for a stiff lower back and neck spondylosis. I also have a stock 07 Miata. There's nothing lower on 4 wheels than a Miata- ok, maybe a McLaren! I find that I'm having to "re-teach" some of those core muscles how to support me on entry/exit from the Miata. The mustang not so much. Even tho my butt's about 8" off the pavement, the Miata has an outstanding driving position. The mustang premium, although it has nice supportive lumbar seats and a somewhat low driving position, I don't think it's very low (for me) that affects entry/exit comfort. But, I will say this, due to that long hood and high window sills, I had trouble knowing where my corners were for the first several months. I didn't want to scrape the garage door or another car, or curbs, or wheel stops. That is due to the relative driver position and body contouring of the mustang. I do feel very safe and secure inside the mustang once in and seat adjusted.
And another thing-- my '17 GT PP has the harshest ride I think I've ever ridden in. There are several posters here that have complained about the PP ride, that the dampers are not matched to the springs, or whatever. But I have an arthritic neck and hitting all the bumps in our concrete roads here in DFW can cause outright pain sometimes if I let it get out of hand and not take pain relief. The Miata, OTOH, is like butter. Apparently Steeda has a "comfort package" includes progressive springs and adjustable dampers for <$1k. I am considering the changeout. Hope this helps you old farts!
We have several packages that are available & will be a nice improvement over stock - the comfort package is a great start!

When you are ready - we can help :) - we offer great forum pricing & can help put together a package to suit your needs.

That car is identical to mine except mines ruby red and has safe and smart. I own both a 19 with a stick and an 18 automatic. The automatic is significantly faster. The gear ratio which has been discussed over and over again on the stick is long on the 18s. As for the price I agree it sounds a little high to me. Including all fees I paid 29/7 for used 18 last fall that stickered for about 1500 more than yours. But it had a lot more miles which didn't trouble me. I buy cars and travel to get them if the deal is good enough. But I would say that the car you're looking at it's going to be awesome! Is it big difference in price when you start throwing a little things like the automatic transmission the wheels etc. My 19 has the performance pack with magneride. If you get a different car with the performance package I would definitely get magneride but my red car without either rides really good and handles pretty good because of the 20in wheels that the white when you're looking at has.

I am 76. I have a 335i and just sold my Porsche 997.2. My wife has bad knees and just hated the Porsche, refused to ride in it. She loves the Mustang GT because it's much easier for her to get in and out of. My only complaint is the Mustang feels big and heavy compared to my 335i. But, neither of us noticed any difference in seating height between the Mustang and 335i.

I had a 2014 GT Coupe and from my experience.............GOD HELP YA........if you ever decide to enter the back seat and try to clean that crazy back glass!!:curse::angry:

I had the car almost 4 years and NEVER got the damn back glass really clean........another reason to own a convertible!!:like:

Now......getting in and out of the new Mustangs is about like everyone said.......much easier than most competitors.......BTW......I will be 73 next month unless something unforeseen happens!!
