My first post here but I found one car in the state that has met most of my parameters with the exceptions of the wheels.

It is a 2018 GT Premium with the 401A package safe/smart, blind spot and active valve exhaust. The 401A package is really hard to find!

It has the "20 PREMIUM-PAINTED ALUM WHEEL" and P265/35R20 upgrade for $1,295.00. I'd rather have the 19" wheels and in a black or dark color if possible.

Would dealers ever "downgrade" a wheel option? If so would they be willing to adjust the price as well? It's already dealer discounted $6K.

Other option would be to keep the wheel. I guess they won't make too much of a difference until comes time to replace them.

I suppose one suggestion will be to trade them with someone. :)

Tempting but pushes my budget.

It seems like my favorite wheel option, dark tarnish 19", requires a manual transmission. Some of those build configurations are perplexing. I've been a lifetime MT driver but I really like this 10 speed.

the dark tarnish 19s sound like the performance pack 2 wheels. which is a $6500 option. doubt you'll find it in any dealer just sitting as they are only now just getting delivered.

but if cost is a worry about tires, 20s tend to be a little cheaper than 19s usually.

PP2 Dark Tarnish wheels are the coolness. I want them on my ride over the PP1 wheels so I'm looking here https://www.americanmuscle.com/charcoal-tech7-wheels-2015.html

Very similar look without the crazy markup.

Why would they consider downgrading and taking less money for the car when those wheels are a big upgrade/price increase?

Your best bet is to either wait for someone to sell those wheels used on here, or buy them directly from Ford. Either way it's gonna cost ya.

Doesn't hurt to ask your sales guy, the only thing he can say is yes or no. I like the 20's, and ordered them on my incoming car. One option to think about is having the 20's powder coated, or painted the color you want. I'm sure your dealer has a wheel repair guy that comes to their body shop on certain days to fix wheels. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the new Mustang. Enjoy.

Oh I'm sure they will say yes, they would love to sell him an extra set of wheels along with the car.

Just saying to be prepared to pay full MSRP for those suckers which is like 4k, not get money back.

If you like the PP1 wheels, then I would highly recommend you just get the PP1 package then. The PP1 wheels are actually really nice wheels, and they come with Michelin PS4S tires as well which are great. Also skip the magneride if you can't afford it.

PP1 wheels really only have two downsides:
1. They are a bitch to clean, and the front brembo dust will ensure that they are always dirty. If you put in a little bit of time and effort into cleaning them though they are badass looking wheels.

2. 9.0" fronts and 9.5" rears really limit going any wider in tire size above the stock 255/275 setup. Yes, there are people who put wider tires than stock on the PP1 wheels, but there are also people who jump off cliffs for fun. 255/275 from the factory is really the best way to go. If you want to run wider than that, then you are going to need new wheels.

I picked up the car last night. I'm actually liking the 20s both in ride and appearance. I tend to not like the wheels to be too polished/bright as they only look good for a day or so after being washed.

It may just be because I came from a Mercedes C-Class but the ride in this car is really nice. People keep asking me if the ride is too harsh. :)
