if you're concerned with tire life/cost, it'll be tough to beat a street tire. i also have a set of 315 Rival S to run locally in CAM-C for just that reason. i don't have enough experience with tire wear on the S550 to make any conclusions, but i fully expect my rivals to outlive my hoosiers. by how much, i can't be sure (check back next year i'd imagine!) - but i know of a few national AS vettes local to me running the BFG past the wear bars with many heat cycles that are experiencing similar performance to new; you'll be hard pressed to see that kind of consistency in the life of a hoosier.Assuming you buy them brand new how many events (4 runs 50-65secs each) would you expect. I know its all relative but the general consensus of 200TW tires is AT LEAST a full year (12 events) and most likely closer to 18. Just wondered if this is a realistic expectation for R compounds as well.
Using the camber bolts, (entirely new to me) do you need to adjust them each time before the event and then back to 0 degrees after to avoid wearing out your road tires?
Sorry for the stupid questions but I appreciate the education!
i've been running -3.5 on my stock pirellis for DD with no abnormal wear after 2k miles since installing; as dick mentioned, toe is the culprit to inside wear, not camber. and i'm even running 1/16th toe out, too.
as for a rear 9.5 fitting up front - i've got 3" ARP studs and 20mm spacers (along with a couple sets of 5mm hanging around). when i install my adjustable swaybar endlinks this weekend, i'll test fit the rears up front and let you know what works. of course, you're going to get more width from a 295 hoosier vs. a 275 pirelli, but it'll give you some idea of what you're working with.
