Is that due to the coating or is the piston that large?
You measure over the coating. There's another spec minus the coating but I don't quite know how you're supposed to measure the OD under the coating.

Did that used block get nuked or is it still in good condition?
The pistons came out of a wrecked car and the block had some minor damage at the oil filter location. I bought a new FP version of the block.

I wonder if a paint thickness type gauge could help to determine coating thickness and therefore piston size ?

That rod looks different too. I don't have a predator spec book in front of me, are they sinter forged as well?

This is a typical clearance for coated aluminum cylinders.
Similar expansion rates.
Coated cylinders in the Two Stroke world are a godsend for piston stability.

Old fashion forged
No powder metal crap.
Shit this engine should make lots of jam with some small modifications; piston rings and head studs old formula for a coyote but should yield much more for predator.

Many predators have made 900 rwhp on true non-boosted 93 octane. I think PBD finally broke their stock long block at like 1300 rwhp on the Texas mile. It’s definitely built for abuse..hence my current project.

Yea that was after like 300 dyno pulls and 200+ 1/4 pulls: I find it interesting that they did destroy the piston as well. Obvious detonation, old boy wanted more and more until it said NO.

I'm guessing Ken isn't a tuner?
