So what you're saying is when they are dynoed in owners hand, they will pull right past the 8250rpm redline and continue to make power whereas most cars peak a few hundred rpm before redline? That's one hell of an intake manifold and some pretty large cams to do that.

All Im saying is they did a good job designing this thing and Im sure to get to big numbers you will still need to change some things out.

Do you know if it was stock? (ecu modified of course for that limit) Seems like it must have had more valve spring in it for such an event which makes me think it may have been a race voodoo.

NASCAR engines can hit over 10,000 RPM... But I guess if you want to talk about racing engines you could show a DOHC F1 engine hitting like 20,000 RPM.

A little of a strech at 10K, more like 9,200 RPM's max, when they hit 10 from a missed sift the motor goes boom.

Plus they are only built to last 900 miles or so.

That's an interesting thought experiment. I'm trying to imagine the radiator and oil cooler necessary to keep the engine temps in check for that long.

But a race engine is a completely different animal than a production car engine. Those NASCAR engines might last a few thousand miles at the most. They are tired after 500 miles and it's not uncommon for a NASCAR engine to not make it through a 500 mile race.

Completely apples and oranges when you compare a NASCAR engine to something that is built to last over 100,000 miles.

3 hours, almost continuous, at 8,500+ RPM is pretty good for a racing engine. You could run one in a daily driver for a very long time. You couldn't run your OEM engine for 3 hours at redline and expect much more life out of it.

900 racing miles at redline would be about 200,000 miles for a daily driver. That's a guess but probably right.

I'm sure Ford has done that type of test on the dyno. Not just redlined, but loaded pulling at maximum RPM and maximum load for that RPM. Too bad they don't share the info. I'd also love to know.

The original 3.0 SHO motor ran 24 hours at 11,000 RPM's. Just saying......

I do know that the valve springs are lighter in the Voodo. I suspect Ford is using a light weight valve setup.

I dont know how much it was modified or at all.

The purpose of that test was testing header configurations.
I tried to get a peek at the intake and I couldnt tell if it was factory or not.

My understanding was that it was relatively stock but that was just what I read between the lines.

One of the very few things I said was Le Mans and that got a very akward blank stare.

There is an article somewhere that details all the challenges the engineers faced going from the Coyote to the 302.
In their durability testing, they ran it on the dyno to the equivalent distance of 7 Daytona 24 hr races.
