The base M2 comes with a lot more features than the base GT, by a long way! optioned up to remotely close options and the M2 isn't much more expensive. A dorkhorse can be optioned up way over an M2...Like it or not, they DO get cross shopped. The mustang is still a bargain(used), but, BMW isn't locking their computers and mods and tuning are easy! They are becoming enthusiast vehicles because of the ease of making good power. Looks are subjective.
I never said anything about cross shopping. I said it doesn't have a V8 so it's a dud to me. And it looks, like, really bad. Everyone else seems to want to jump on me for not liking it. Who cares if it has more features you don't want or care about? It starts at over 20k more base vs a v8 Mustang, that's not in a comparable price range at all.

And for not liking the Supra that also was more expensive and also subject to insane ADM most of its time for sale on the 6 cylinder manual. And base price cost a lot more than a Mustang. And is arguably a joke of a car being a Toyota but is actually a BMW.

And I won't even go there with the C8. Don't care about it at all, think its a mess of a design looks-wise and no manual is just a flat out deal breaker for me. Not to mention a base C8 is pretty lackluster. None of the really cool ones cost under 150k.

So if you wanna compare those 3 cars to the Mustang, none of them have the V8+manual that I want in a sports car. There's no comparison. Chevy won't add a manual. BMW is not putting a V8 in it's neutered M2. The Supra is dead because BMW refreshed it's convertible old people cruiser.

One guy argues a Mustang v8 can't be had for 40s anymore. That was a 100% wrong. Then people are saying a Supra and M2 aren't REALLY more expensive than a Mustang v8. Another big whopper.

It's like the facts don't matter to some people. And the facts are nobody else is offering a V8 manual for anywhere near the price of a Mustang. And you can still get one pretty cheap, for what it is.

C8 is lackluster now?
Yes. It’s fast and is a great car, but it didn’t give me the big smile on my face like my Mustang does

What a bunch of nonsense. Supra is cheaper than Dark Horse but a way better performer, C8 - not even a question there - it is an actual sport car unlike Mustang. Same with M2.

Base Mustang with a V8 is not even remotely close to anything that anyone with common sense would call a sports car - 4,000 lb car on a 255 wide all seasons ? LOL, sure buddy.

I’m with you on the Bimmers and the Supra. The new Bimmers are ugly and they don’t sound good. No denying their capabilities, but just not my taste either. Same with the Supra, wish Toyota would’ve used an actual Toyota motor (like say the 5.0 they drop in the Lexus).

Comparing a Mustang to a C8 and a Supra isn’t really apples to apples. Mustang and Corvette have never really been competitors, they’re totally different cars and the Vette has been seen as the next step up from a Mustang & Camaro (and still is, RIP Camaro). Supra doesn’t have a V8, which is a must have for a certain segment of buyers. It’s a smaller, 2 seat car so not even the same type of car as a Mustang. Do they get cross shopped? Sure they do, but again 2 different types of cars.

Everyone likes what they like. I personally could give 2 $hits if an M2 or a Supra outperforms base Mustangs (or even a DH). The M2 and Supra are ugly and sound like crap, that’s a major part of the driving experience for me. For those reasons alone I’d never buy one. To each their own.

Remember when TRD made over Mk.IV Supras into the "3000GT"?
I think it was about 2005 when Toyota hinted at a Supra successor nicknamed the "4000GT".
I really like the drawing that came with that news, and now I can't find it on the internet.
Just found it on my office computer:
Toyota 4000GT concept art.webp

It sounded like the plan was to tweak out the Lexus V8, and maybe stick with the same 6-speed transmission.

Instead they (took another 8 years and) made this Lexus-badged V10 car with a carbon fiber body. It's probably pretty nice behind the wheel, but for $380,000 I'll never know. 🤷‍♂️

That motor is really nice but the drivetrain ruins it. Transmission, not just cuz it's auto, is pretty bad. Not anywhere near the ZF8 level BMW uses.

You are on crack. The M2 is so far away from an actual sports car with its weight. It's a budget luxury commuter car with a big engine and suspension added.

You're totally wrong on the Supra vs Dark Horse. .5 tenths of a second faster around a track is not a "way better performer". And again, no V8 so it can't compare. I'll take the sound of the Dark Horse over the sound of a BMW I6 turbo any day. These cars are neck and neck in performance and you're a fanboy if you think the Supra is way better tbh.

I can wait for the proof the Supra is a "way better" car than the Dark Horse. Is that why the Supra is getting axed, it was too good?

I compete against these cars, not read forums and watch youtube videos. Dark Horse too. Would pick Supra any time (and base Mustang GT again isn't even in the same zipcode with soft springs, narrow all season tires so when someone talks about sports car in that context it tells me all I need to know) and am actually close to buying one (in addition to Mustang, not replacement).

I keep going back and forth between adding an auto S650 or F150... I cannot make up my mind, I have one more year to decide, but the tuning opening up makes it hard to wait, good thing I just spent all my pennies moving, only thing stopping me.

Yeah, I drove in a new M2 around a very fast race track, regular mustang has nothing against it in performance department. Yes, it's heavy just like mustang, and steering is dead, just like mustang, and it has stupid screens, just like S650 mustang, but it would absolutely destroy a stock mustang with it's mushy suspension in corners, and it has insane acceleration for what it is. Youtube influencers may disagree, but we don't drive youtube on race tracks.
