800 lb./ft. torque, so it's a pretty stout transmission. Horsepower, I don't know.
Transmissions aren't rated for hp, they're rated for Torque. Hp is simply calculated from torque, which is why torque ratings are used. Torque is what breaks things.

800 Torque is awesome... that enables HP to be extreme. Just think 750FP of torque and 808HP. The thing would be epic!

I bet the GT500 needs reinforced... even with convertible support already included.

I don't think a convertible GT500 is wise. It could increase MSRP too much just offering it too. A key to GT350 rigidy and performance for the dollar.

If a gearbox is rated at 800tq..you won't see an engine producing 800tq mated to it..they need to have a buffer zone.

If it's rated at 800tq, expect any motor with it to be in the 700-725tq range.

However, if that 800tq rating is on a 10,000lb vehicle, then yeah..party's on.

Not a lot of people understand the torque rating of a transmission and overlook the GVWR the transmission was meant for. The MT-82 is a prime example, being rated at 369ft-lbs of torque but for a vehicle with a GVWR of something like 3,000kg.

380 TQ at 10,000 GVWR...

It's astounding how many people see the 380 TQ part and freak out, calling Ford cheap and incompetent for putting "a weakass transmission that can't even handle the V8's stock torque ZOMG WTF"

Did you hear if the GT500KR was auto specific? Apparently the A10 is where they show off the acceleration.

808hp/800tq?!?!?

It needs 325's and a 315 up front lol.
Seems to be the industry trend. No reason why Ford would choose a different path.
Autos have shown the faster and quickest times.
Ford needs headlines in a positive way.

The convertible was under the gun and talked about in previous pages. The convertible support I am referring to is the integration of additional sheet metal in ALL base cars to keep HALO cost lower. It also makes weight loss possible as we seen on the GT350, even when it takes on 75-100lbs of equipment.

However, even though the EB, V6, GT, GT350 and Convertible benefit from that addional support (except weight), the GT500 may need to inclueven MORE reinforcement. In fact, I would just go ahead and assume the GT500 will need more. Since it is 4000lbs and 800hp, the convertible support that was included into the base cars may not be enough.

Sorry about the mix up. I think the GT500 will be COUPE ONLY even though the convertible support for the EB and GT have already been included.
