I doubt it'll be 'ecoboost' since that implies it is economically friendly which all turbo cars aren't but I'm at least hoping it's a twin turbo v8 or a v6. It'd be nice to see something different other than the SC. 10 speed auto and mag ride would also be nice and would bring progress to the mustang
They call the Ford GT and Raptor motors "EcoBoost" motors, so don't count on them dropping that moniker for any sort of FI Ford Racing/SVT/Shelby Mustang release.

True. I guess it's just to promote the brand then

What every they do i hope it's not another supercharged car i'm a big time ford fan but damn i'm sick of supercharged car's time to move on with a 5.0 twin turbo or a 5.2 twin turbo fully built i'd like the hp to be close to 750 TQ around 700

I have 2 of those 3 issues in one car. Am I lucky! It must be hard to keep track of 3 varieties of the same product at the same time! :ford:
Who reported on cooling ducts issues? Link?

Great to see Ford upping the ante and taking the top dog Mustang to an even higher level. This is going to b the one to die for with both the devastating straightline stuff and superior cornering from a far more balanced config. compared with the past generation GT500. This one should have handling on a par or close to the GT350 and knock out step on the gas response.

One of the track pack cars that was delivered with a base/tech pack spoiler also had the block off panel for base/tech cars installed on the passenger side. The block off panel is used on base/tech cars that don't have the trans cooler, and in his case was blocking air from cooling the trans.

Ford has a branding and market strategy around the term "Ecoboost." If it has turbos on it, you bet your ass it'll be called an "Ecoboost" engine. Just because the name may not exactly align with reality doesn't mean the company goes off the beaten path with their branding.

Should have called it Egoboost instead.

2017 Fusion top trim getting AWD. Plus boosted power output.

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/11/...d=autoblog|trend|2017-ford-fusion-gets-325-hp

More and more looking possible for the top dog of all Ford vehicles not named FORD GT.

If the Focus and Fusion are getting this in their higher trim levels, I'd say that simple logic dictates the GT500 gets it as well.

With a TWIN TURBO V8 and a performance auto, phasers are set to kill. Not only stun. If think the humble mustang would flat out embarrass many a SUPERCAR. With the GT 350!as good a starting point ("bones" per hameedi), I can't see anything but pure win in its future.

Of course,Ford could treat Mustang like a second class citizen one again. But there is no reason. It may not sell on the order of a Fusion, but it sells great. And it's what people synonym use with Fords "halo" more so than the barely ever in production GT.

Interesting to see more Fords getting this treatment.

Converting FWD to AWD is pretty straightforward. Lots of companies do it. Converting RWD to AWD is a LOT of work; building driven front wheels into the Mustang would be a packaging nightmare. I don't think this is really feasible.

The next GT500 may be a twin-turbo six. but odds are it will be RWD.

My vote goes toward changing the name of the potential gt500 motor, GT motor, and raptor motor to "egoboost" instead

No reason to downgrade the engine when we've got a twin turbo v8 possibility.

I'll stand by my original prediction:

5.2L bored-out Coyote w/ SC
~700 HP
7 spd DCT derived from the new GT Supercar
Magneride from GT350
Premium trim only
20" wheels standard
Drag-focused handling/Ride...still a capable handler but softer than GT350
I agree it will be an SC motor.

The quote below was posted back in 08/14 by a regional Shelby director:

"We took a tour of Watson Racing last week on a trip to Dearborn...

I notice a few of you have mentioned the Trinity. The bombshell of the trip came when I heard the Romeo engine plant was closed off to tours because the plant was working on Voodoo and a NEW big block to replace the 5.8 -and said as if that information was just common knowledge."

I've heard rumors, and I usually don't throw much weight into their content. But this would make sense if Ford does decide to throw a Mach 1 or Boss 429 at the Hellcat."

My main question is what will the CID be?

Thought/wish here is that an all-new 427 would sure be a nice salute to Carroll Shelby and his original GT500 427 Super Snake. Plus, why should Chevy guys with their LS7's have all the fun?!

it has an engine!
Hopefully they dont pull that crap like borrowed rods from the 5.4 and with retweaking them and making them a weak link because of the redesign. Im still mad about that.
