Nice, I think I’ve heard enough good reviews to see that this is worth it. I may do a dyno comparison to see if it’s actually making gains
I'm sure we'd all love to see that. Lol

I know I would, I like this CAI I just hear the nah sayers in my head saying " CAI does nothing for 18+ , drop in filter " I like my AEM drop in but can't say if it improved anything or not

Well I'll be the first to say coming from a stock Cai and drop in filter I much prefer the injen.

Intakes definitely do make a difference if you can keep the IAT’s down (which the Injen does)

Hi All,

Like most I did a LOT of reading on CAI's and watched a lot of videos too.

I really liked the look of the Roush, but didn’t want to cut the cover. (Subsequently I have seen some using cover standoffs/spacers now where the cover cuts/mods are not needed) I was looking at BBK open style, partially for the look, but started reading up on IATs and opted for the closed. South Australia gets very hot in Summer, up to 48deg C. I’ve not measured IATs yet as I only read about this stuff after Summer had passed and only put the CIA on in May. The local chapters seem to have a lot of Air raids, but that’s probably more to a popular local Mustang mechanic/shop than anything else, and I was not in favor of the top of the air raid CAI.

I found a performance shop in Melbourne (no affiliation) that imported the Ingen and got one from there. They also did some pre and post dynos. Links below.

Insert links:
Ingen quote and American speed showed on a before and after dyno that the injen 2018+ CAI improved as follows.

Baseline run - 260kw / 349 HP. (two runs so the best of two taken.)

After fit run - 278kw /373 HP
Gains of 18 kw / 24 HP

I had no problems doing the install. It all went in vey quickly. Sure the silicone inlet tube was a bit tight to get on the throttle body but I’d expect that. I just used a smear of low mix of dish detergent and water wiped around the inlet and wiggled it on.

I sent an email to Injen afterwards with some minor suggestions and photo's and they responded favorably saying that would look at them. Some of you may find it interesting.

“Hi Injen,

I just fitted my 2019 AUS delivered N4G GT with one of your CAI's. Easy job, great fit, and good instructions. Very happy with the packing and wrapping. First rate! Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.

Two suggestions. The sound tube resonator has a clip that slots into a hole on the factory CAI to keep it in place but your does not have it. It may wobble around a bit. I’ll make one to fit on the outer housing but you may want to look at it. ( I know some take off the sound tube so make the tab removable? )

Also on the MAF sensor harness on the factory CAI the MAF harness clips onto it in a 6mm hole on the front. Without the second attachment point the MAF harness is too loose.
If you can see the pic, I looked around for a good spot for a new 6mm hole and found it on one of the plastic fins on the fan cover. It’s a strong spot and if you come in from the rear edge there is plenty of “meat” in the fin not to add any undue pressure. Also if you keep it to the left a bit (looking from the front) it is clear of interfering with the shroud bolt access to the right of it about 2-2.5 CM away. The existing MAF harness clip that attached to the OEM CAI slot rights in the new hole and keeps the harness from slapping around without it being too tight or stretched.

Pic of the hole location with and without the harness locator plug installed.

Regards,

AJ”

It’s definitely a different feel and sound. Throttle response is different/crisper as some of you have noticed. Butt dynos are always very subjective so who can say. Not too sure if I’ve noticed the induction noise increase by a lot, but my hearing isn’t that good. Perhaps it’s blended into the existing symphony of sounds that I so enjoy from this car. I replaced the wheels and tyres at the same time and lost sprung weight too. It definitely feels like it spins up faster. How much each change makes again is subjective for me. I’m happy with the look, fit, and feel. I’ll add some Kooks or ARH high cell count cat (green) headers (no tune required) and that’s the best I can do for the NA performance for a few years. (I too won’t be looking at an aftermarket tune until the warranty expires)

Enjoy your experience whatever you decide.

Anybody run this injen evo intake with a E85 tune? I was thinking about just throwing the airaid jr modular intake tube on between my ported 88mm tb and stock box. Can you still get to your nanny plug by the airbox with the Injen? Looks like the new shape covers it up.

The plug is a pain to get to if you leave it fastened down(found this out at the dyno). I removed the mounting tabs and laid it down where it normally is and just pull it out the front when needed. I talked to Lund about tuning with the injen and he said it wouldn’t matter because the maf housing and counts would be like stock(don’t quote me on that)
I just ordered a flex tune from Lund just waiting on its arrival.

the dyno attached is stock with a drop in aem filter vs injen and Xpipe. The top of the run had signal interference. Dyno operator was having a hard time getting a reading so the motor was probably a little warm due to multiple tries

Cool! Looks like sold gain in torque too. I have a modified stock box with 88mm ported Tb on E85 tune. Car rips. I may just go with Steeda’s 101mm closed box setup instead though.

Thanks for reply and info!

am i one of the only ones on here who actually likes intake noise? that was the only redeeming quality of the PMAS i had on my 2012 (which i ripped off after going much slower at the drags). made my car borderline sound like that NASCAR-engine BMW M1 in Sweden which to this day is one of the best sounding cars i've ever heard

No I miss it terribly coming out of an E92 M3 with a CF intake, that thing howled at speed.

Wow great job, thanks for the info. I wonder how much of that gain is from the x pipe, or did it already have the x pipe installed before the Injen? Thanks

Isn't the whole point in adding a better CAI to improve airflow which also means adding a custom exhaust which is more free flowing to see any benefits? I thought the 2 went hand in hand to actually see a difference on a dyno, much less feel a difference.

I'm looking at adding a cold air intake to my 2018 Mustang GT. I prefer to add a closed filter box vs an open filter box to avoid high intake air temperatures. Anyone have any real world experience with the Roush or Injen Evolution CAI?
Best options would be PMAS or JLT on these cars. Substantially bigger inlet tubes which bring in more air. We sell both here at www.lethalperformance.com please send me a message if you have any questions or would like to place an order.
