I did an X pipe with 2 Dynomax bullet resonators with my Roush axleback. Amazing difference and the car sounds fantastic. Perfect volume level.
Where exactly do the resonators go? I don't see a lot of straight area after the x

Every time I call an exhaust shop, they always say "doesn't the car have an H-pipe? Why do you want the same pipe put on it?"

Does the GT have an H-pipe already? I thought it had what is called a mid-pipe.

Roush AB and X-pipe is the loudest setup you can have, for better or worse. No drone though which is something.

No, there is no H-pipe on the S550 generation Mustang, only the resonator. The S197 2011-2014 GT had an H-pipe stock.

This. I have this setup. And I find the lack of drone to be disturbing. Only in the sense that you would think it'd drone like a mother.

But it doesn't. Quiet, warm idle. Hellacious cold-start, and WOT. Docile at cruising speeds.

This. And obviously don't go to whatever Muffler Shop told you this.

I would look at having the magnaflow resonated X crossover installed. A standard H or X will be Loud. Obviously some guys like it that way. The Borla resonator doesnt seem all that much louder than stock. X/H with bulllet style mufflers behind should work too.

I have this all ready cut and ready to install for you! Was too loud for the wife and kids. Got compliments from everyone else. But.... they don't ride and live with me.

Did you put the suitcase back in and how much for that setup?

I bet it was loud as hell in the cabin being a convertible.

The Roush AB is loud as it is with the vert., I would use that H and stock mufflers to see what I get. Waiting see how much he wants for it since the length is unique to the vert.

This is not a particularly good sounding setup. The stock mufflers are very tinny.

So Stripes, I take it you're happy with your exhaust decision?

Also, is there any precautions I should know when shopping for H-Pipes?
Oh yes absolutely without a question!

Cold starts are loud but taper down a bit after a few minutes. It's not unbearable when driving normally - in fact you would be hard-pressed to even notice it with normal city driving. I've had it for about 2 years now with not a single pull-over, complaint or ticket.

All things considered, just be sensible when driving. Do your occasional tunnel runs but don't redline it in suburban streets and neighbourhoods. I live on the outskirts of Toronto, ON and have never had a single issue.

Hi all,
First post and this is as good of a place as any. I recently bought a used '15 GT Premium in silver (Auto, non-PP) and I love it. The exhaust was the first thing that needed addressing (some suspension upgrades and tires to tighten up the ride will be next on the list). Anyways, after researching like a madman for weeks, I pulled the trigger on the Roush Axle-backs.
I had a muffler shop put them on about 10 days ago and it sounds great- super loud and deep tone WOT and no drone that I can detect at any RPM.

Now, the question: the muffler shop asked why I didn't do an X or H pipe as well and I told him I didn't want the volume level to be ridiculous (primarily interior volume with windows up is all I care about), so I figured I could go back and add it later on.

So, my question is, relatively speaking, what is the interior volume level increase when cruising (not stabbing on throttle for fun) going from the Roush with resonator installed to changing it out for an H-Pipe?

Now, my impression of the Roush alone is that it's definitely louder than stock at cruising speeds, but not obnoxious. If the volume level is similar at cruising speeds with the H pipe, then I'd want to do it, but if someone tells me it feels twice as loud, then I'm probably not going to do it. Thanks for any impressions!

Here's a before/after of installing the Roush A/B on my car for reference purposes (Iphone so not the greatest audio quality but gives a decent impression of the sound):
