Super upsetting as I was about to do a G3x ESS kit and have him remote dyno tune it 😢

It's hard not to get burned out in this industry. It's always go go go and customers blowing up personal social medias on weekends when they want something.

I actually enjoy tuning so enjoy what I do but can easily understand why high demand tuners need a break.

If anyone gets it you definitely do! I can’t even fathom what a normal business day looks like for you.. but I’m definitely glad you have some what got work/life balance figured out even thou I’m sure it’s rare. I know personally in the over year and a half you have tuned my car I only email you with in business hours so that you can have a life outside of your job even if you do love what you do!

The last thing anyone here wants, is you getting burned out good Sir. We can start a Go Fund me for your bi-annual vacation, as long as you promise to keep up the professionalism, response times, and badass tunes.

Do you use anyone in the Houston area for remote tuning? Hellhorse Performance in Conroe used Rob and PBD but don’t know if they’ll continue to use PBD.

I hope American Muscle picks up Rob and he brings back some of the Bama tune quality... :sunglasses:

(I'm honestly shocked that he lasted as long as he did at PBD w/ Ken)

Robs a good guy - wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors - I'm sure whatever he does it will be solid!

That’s what the post said unfortunately. Curious as to what prompted it but he says he’ll be resigned for a while.
He didn't say what I bolded. However, what he did say typically is code for "I will not be working until my non-compete is up", at which point he will likely either have his own product, or be at another firm. This allows him to have legal protection when he starts his next endeavor. Because no doubt PBD will likely come after him if he starts his next role even one day early.

I am not saying this is the case here, but when people put a statement out like that, it usually means they have a plan.

If tuning is his primary skill the non-compete is basically worthless.

I know someone that signed a non-compete as an electrical foreman and left and went to work for another company. They tried to sue him and lost. Most states protect primary skill from non compete.

As long as tuning is his primary skill and he was not a partner in the business, he can leave and go work for another tuner without problem. Starting his own business is a whole different story and I imagine that is the next step.

Best of wishes wherever he goes thou.
Reality, and case law, shows this to be untrue.

Rob has a HIGHLY specialized skill, which he likely acquired while working at PBD. If Rob started his own business (Just me speculating) before his non-compete is up, PBD can argue that they invested huge sums of money into him acquiring his skill (in the hours of tuning R&D), that PBD directly relies on his expertise (evidenced by this thread and this forum), that PBD will be financially impacted by his leaving (proven by this thread and forum), and that he agreed to not compete with PBD if he should ever leave. If he signed a non-compete, any decently worded one will not allow him to work for himself, a competitor, or any newly formed partnership.

A foreman non-compete is signed for very different reasons. A electrical foreman signs one so they don't take pricing to other companies primarily (Among other reasons).

And let's not forget, regardless of whether or not Rob can or cannot go to work, all of this litigation casts money. Rob would need to pay attorneys, legal fee's, and still risks not winning, all the while, he cannot work. So is all of that worth it to him, or is it better he just stay out of the game for how ever long his non-compete is? These are questions only he has the answers to. And I bet we will be able to figure them out before long.

I do wish the best for him, and PBD. I've not heard a bad interaction from any friends that have used him/PBD.

Lmao! I see him taking a nice vacation and then opening his own business. He will hand select whom he tunes for probably like some big time racers and a few select customers that he has done tunes for in the past. This will allow him to be more hands on and even fly out to tracks and dynos to do in person calibrating and not have to worry about the work load piling up when he does this.
Gotta hope he didn't sign a non compete clause. He may be required to sit on the sidelines before you can if Ken had one in his employment contract.
