We took a 4100 mile road trip last summer with the goal to stay off the freeways and in the mountains.. We drove to the SAAC-46 convention where we drove the drag race and track day. Then we toured the local wine country.

From there it was north through the Redwood forests, along the Pacific coast to Seiku WA. We visited family in Seattle and then drove the "High Line" east to Minot ND where we celebrated my Nephew's 20-year Air Force retirement. Car did great! Tires did great! we do have the leather seats which makes it very nice.

A road trip in a Mustang was how I ended up with one in my driveway!

I went on a 3500 mile trip in a rented GT with Recaros and was practically giddy the whole way. No problem with the seats as I'm fairly slim and I found them very comfortable...still do.

Radar detector? I got one specifically for road trips as I did get a ticket outside of Browning MT on an early Sunday morning when I didn't noticed my speed had creeped up...which happened fairly often...and is easy to do when you are enjoying the countryside.

San Francisco to Portland and back with the wife and 35 lb dog over ten days. Went great and averaged 31.5 even with the hills, twisty’s and top down time. I really learned to appreciate the adaptive cruise control.

My 6 series BMW did better MPG-wise lol. 4.2 0-60 445hp 650ix Gran Coupe. It flew.

But it was mainly a joke about how my foot is in it too much cuz it sounds so darn good.

Planning a trip from Texas to California this coming summer in the '22 GT. BTW, I think your tire size is 255/40, not 245? But either way, they are just highway cruising tires, not performance ones. Should be fine. It's what I have also on the black accent package 19x8.5's.

You have 43k miles on your "weekend" car in 3 years? .... :O I have 32k miles on my daily driver in 4.5 years.

I did a 1200 mile round trip road trip in my '19 GT PP1 and that was on the stock tire/wheel set up. It was great. I took all back roads - no interstates - and averaged 25 mpg. Depending on your driving style I would recommend investing in a good radar detector. I run a V1G2 in my Mustang.

Just drive it, you will enjoy. I took my first Mustang - a 2004 V6 pony pkg manual trans, MACH 460...I drove that car from central CA to central TX in 2005, loaded down with stuff, and a cat, was just fine. I drove that car back to CA and then back to TX in 2006, just me, a suitcase in the trunk, no problems.

I drove my second Mustang - a 2013 V6 with no options from TX to MI and back....it was good. I also drove that car 400+ miles round trip up to DFW area for an In & Out burger

My third Mustang, a 2014 auto GT never left TX - but I did put 27,000 miles on it in six months.

My fourth Mustang, a 2015 MT82 GT Premium with Recaros and all the gadgets...man...I drove that thing like crazy. I saw miles and miles of Texas...drove that car all over the state, and drove it from Houston to Louisiana at least twice a month for three years. I also drove it from Houston TX to Destin FL and back. Car never missed a beat, was comfy, too.

I haven't really done much with my new 2021 GT - took it to Louisiana the day after I purchased.

These cars are fantastic for road trips. I drove my 2019 Escape from TX to CA last year, and the fatigue was bad....just not a nice experience for hours on end.

The longest trip I've taken so far is around 3 hours. It's fine. It's a GT car. For me it's plenty comfy and it eats up miles. If I were to do a marathon solo trip like I use to do, I would probably bring ear plugs to keep fatigue down ( but I would do that in anything short of a Cadillac or similar car)

Mine gets 14 on the highway running E85, if I try to stay out of boost.

Ear plugs? Just makes me want to make sure to never get my car that loud. It has to be functional. I like it loud on acceleration and quiet on the highway. So far H-pipe on stock mufflers seems to be doing this.
