I’ll be taking my 2021 GT on a road trip from Northern California to Dallas next month with my wife. We have 245/40/19 Pirellis which are decently comfy. We enjoy long drives in our Trail Boss but haven’t taken one of our sports car for anything longer than a 4 hour drive. How comfy is the Mustang on long drives? Any items or accessories for long drives? We are going to get the clear bra and also ceramic tint done to cut down on the heat.

I’ve driven the Mustang for 1.5 hour car ride and it’s surprisingly quiet and the ride is smooth.

The Mustang is great for road trips, so long as you only have two people. Longest for me so far was New York to San Antonio in my 2015. The only downside is you can have issues just like in any car. There and back I ended up with chips all over the front bumper and some on the hood, a cracked windshield, and my rear bumper was almost torn off by a piece of truck tire. My 2015 lived on the street and the paint was far from perfect, so it wasn't that big of a deal. My 2020 has been garaged since new and the paint is still in near perfect condition, so I'm a little more cautious with it. One of the reasons I got full ppf.

In my former Mondeo Vignale I could drive over six hundred miles a day and arrive at the destination as fresh as if I had just driven to a local supermarket for a bottle of milk.
I find the Mustang even more comfortable than the Mondeo.
Caveat: I have the premium leather seats. Recaros may be a different story.

Find mine to be an awesome road trip car. No drone from active exhaust. Seats are comfortable. Loads of trunk storage even in the convertible. Get waze loaded in the sync screen and I’m good for 4 hours before a gas and bladder stop then another 4. I use adaptive cruise and lane keep on the long and boring bits to help stay rested. Best is a10/coyote get amazing highway mpg.

It's all what you can handle. I took my 01 out to the west coast, putting on 5200 miles in 11 days. It had full maximum motorsports suspension and a Vortech supercharger. It may get a little dirty and chipped up but that what they're for. This is a campsite at the edge of the road we found one evening.

I took mine on a 2000 mile, 35 hour road trip last summer. Handled it like a champ. I just have the normal seats but I found them exceptionally comfortable, and I didn't start getting fatigue until the 8 hour mark (my body can only tolerate sitting for about that long, so it's not really a knock on the seats).

These cars just eat up the miles, and I even had no issues fitting all the camping gear for two. You get fun looks entering campsites, that's for sure.

I have 20K on my Mustang and took delivery last April. Great touring car. We've been on several road trips up and down the east coast and planning on another 3K Myrtle Beach trip in 2-3 weeks. The longest trip being out west to the Black Hills with just under 5800 miles in about 10 days... My typical driving day would be about 10hrs...Only downside is I do have some minor paint chip damage that needs to be addressed. FWIW I run 87octane and averaged 23+MPG @80MPH+ and no issues with the Pirellis. Also we keep a small cooler of water/fruit juices and energy bars/trail mix to snack on while driving. Have a safe trip :sunglasses:

I did a 1400 mile total trip over 4 days from Southern CA to Sedona in my GT350R on pilot cup 2s ...with the "fragile" carbon fiber wheels and in recaros ....
Was a blast!! Also did some back road fun with one of my buddies for some of those miles .... will be doing again!

Should add... one of his neighbors had 2 Ford GTs ... an 05 and a 18

The 18 had 47k miles on it and the 05 had 140k miles on it......made me feel better about putting miles on my car lol

I drove my whippled '18 from Houston to Thunder Bay and back. Awesome roadtrip car. I ended up with a few extra rock chips, but other than that no issues.
