I’m getting my second motor put in next week. Mine was fine till about 4K miles then the oil consumption increased to a quart every 125 miles. It’s a 2018 model bought in May 2018. I traded in a perfectly fine running 2009 911 C4S for it. So I’ll get the new motor in and then make a decision to keep it or not. There are cases of 2nd motors being bad too, we know that. If Ford would just let us know what the problem is and how they fixed it, I’d be more comfortable with keeping it. I needed a bigger car to get my 85 year old mom around better and more comfortable, so if I dump the 350 I might get a RS5. I considered one before I got the GT350. So yes I’m a Porsche and Audi guy that gave American cars a chance. I’ve had two 911s and an S4 and odd and ends like a 1998 Integra Type R, I hope 313 is still in good hands.

What is your build date? I've got a 2018 built 02/18, and it's Lead Foot Gray (which seems to be the cursed color for bad engines! LOL)

If you went 4k miles without oil consumption, then suddenly a quart every 125 miles, clearly something broke. To me that's different than the cars that report: "It never burned a drop, and one day it was 5 qts low!" To me, that's someone who didn't stay on top of the oil level. Not saying something didn't go wrong, but those engines often died due to oil starvation. Your scenario seems different.

And I agree, I'd LOVE to know what went wrong. It would certainly help me decide whether to keep the car past warranty or not. Good news for me is I have an 8 year transferrable warranty, so I have time to decide.

No I think that's typical of oil consumption issues. Mine was exactly the same - no consumption the first 4K or so, then gradually worse.

Well you are dead wrong. I checked it every other fill up. Up to 4K it was about a quart every 1000 miles then it got worse and worse. When I saw it getting worse I requested a consumption test, and they had me do two separate 500 mile tests. They also did bore scopes, compression test, and leak down tests. They never showed me the results of it, my service advisor told me the tech told her all was in spec. On trips to WV and back even my mom asked why my brand new 60k car needed so much oil.

I’m not a newbie to performance cars. I’ve also had two CTSVs and a Nismo Z. As an engineer I always check fluids and pressures. I researched this issue before I bought it, and rolled the dice but got snake eyes.

just curious to the folks seeing oil loss: is the car smoking upon startup or during run? do you notice? oil doesn't just vanish; its either leaks out or is burnt. The latter will be noticeable if its burning that much...

I know it doesn't make sense, but there's not a cumulus cloud of smoke or puddles of oil under the car that NONE of us noticed.

Sooted up exhaust pipes. Minimal amount in catch cans. No smoke on startup.

Same with both of my engines. No smoke, no leak on the ground, nothing unusual in the catch cans etc. Nothing to indicate there was an issue except it was disappearing from the dipstick. For some reason people that haven't had the issue have a hard time believing this.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. Others often posted that they never took a drop and then "suddenly" were 5 qts low. Unless they dumped it on the road, that didn't suddenly happen. Those people only noticed something was wrong when the car started making noise or an engine light came on.

It's clear that was not your issue, although I didn't realize your car was using a qt every 1k.

What month is your build?

Yes I’ve taken her on backroads on RT33 in Wv along with RT4 and 2. Put it in sport mode and had at it. I’ll go check my fender for build date.

The cost is 16k for motor and I’m guessing another 3k for install. I was told my warranty will only be what remains on the original one when bought new.

If I call them it’s for buyback. Which I may do anyhow. If I try to sell or trade it I’m hosed. I’d get more money from buyback. I paid MSRP and it has the convience package.
