Comparison between flu and covid severity in the US from Oct 1 to Nov 12, 2022:
Covid (data from weekly averages):
1,800,000 cases
148,000 hospitalizations
15.600 deaths
Flu (mid-range of CDC estimates):
6,600,000 cases
56,000 hospitalizations
3,200 deaths
Influenza is much more prevalent...
Out of curiosity, I looked at the data. Haven't bothered for almost a year now. But right now, 80% of the US is either fully or partially vaccinated (69% fully, 12% partially). Compared to other western countries, that is close to the top. The EU is worse (75%), Israel and Switzerland are much...
That sounds right. I thought there might be a few anaphylaxis deaths but apparently none. There were dozens of anaphylactic reactions but all were successfully resolved.
Exactly. I made a similar analogy earlier. Anyone could do the same study as the one I linked on virtually anything. My example was pizza. Follow 6 million people of the same age groups for 3 weeks after eating pizza and tabulate how many had headaches, nausea, strokes, heart attacks or died...

Did you actually read the full study? Their list of "serious adverse reactions" is absurd. These are some on the list: headache, malaise, nausea, diarrhea. And there is a ridiculous list of medical conditions that can happen that have nothing to do with covid or any other vaccine: epilepsy...
Interesting study on prior infection with earlier variants vs omicron in protecting against BA4 and BA5. Obviously omicron offers much better protection:

No more boosters for us for awhile. We got omicron BA5 last month. Basically a mild cold except for 24 hrs of low grade fever. I did get some weird red spots that popped up all over my torso after the symptoms subsided. The vaccines are now so different from the current strains of covid it's...
Well everything is under powertrain or extended warranty so it is what it is. Already have a 2nd motor due to oil consumption, might as well get a new tranny!
Watching this thread. My car just started bucking/hesitating mostly in 3rd gear. At first I thought it was bad gas - seemed to get better when I filled the tank. But now it's back and the wrench light came on once, plus a note that hill assist was off. When I restarted the car, at first it...
Nonsense - far past time to move on. The latest variants are much more mild, anyone who wants to be vaccinated and boosted can do so. Mask mandates in restaurants and bars are idiotic and ineffective. Covid will be endemic like the flu from now on. Find something else to wring your hands about.
