I called Ford Performance myself yesterday and talked with a technician (Matt). He gave me the usual story about "high strung" engines and how they will use oil. When I pressed him on the fact that the end user experience is all over the board he had no answer. I also pressed him about a supposed "fix" and he had no answer. He did acknowledge that the GT500 engine block will be used in the 2019 350's but made it clear that it is the block only. So at this point I am done pursuing a GT350 until I see improvement in the overall quality of these engines. This is a shame.
What phone number did you use to contact Ford Performance directly?

No sh1t?! That didn't take them long at all! Take pics, vids, of your checklist inspection.

I'm also curious to know if this is reported on the CarFax. And can anyone confirm if these engines have numbers like in the old days?
The original block is stamped with the partial VIN...

Does anyone know how the extended warranty offer works? Will the dealer offer at pickup after new motor install or do you have to call Ford (or Ford Performance) to get it?

Both the engine block and the tranny have the last 8 of the VIN stamped on them. Replacement engines/transmissions have that area blank.

So a number stamp kit and a small hammer can restore your car's original value? That's fabulous!

Well, not really. It's done in dot matrix and had a scan code on it.

Great idea, why don’t you roll your odometer back while you are at it.

Quick question. I'm considering a used GT350. Is there more risk after the bumper to bumper warranty expires in getting any oil consumption issues addressed? I'm assuming "most" causes would be covered under the power train warranty but just wanted to ask.

If this has been covered before I apologize.

5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty if engine consumes more than a quart of oil every 500 miles. Also there would be other engine problems covered by powertrain warranty.

^^^ There you go. Many opt for the 8 or 10 year warranty. The only problem with the warranty when it comes to an engine issue is that Ford replaces (not repairs) engines. On a regular 350, not a big deal. On a more rare R, numbers matching is important. On an extremely rare car, like a base R, numbers matching is extremely important IMHO.

Tom,

Going of this thread, With 3 GT350 R's, you have and incredibly high probability of having a "blown engine" soon. :cwl::cwl::cwl:

If My engine where to fail, notice i didn't say explode or blown; ), It would be replaced under warranty. My car also has an extended warranty so I am covered for 8 years since initial purchase. Someone on FB group bought back his failed engine block for the cost for the core charge. If mine where to fail I also will negotiate for the block.
