I peeled the dealership decal from the back lid of my trunk, and it came off fairly easily but some of the adhesive was left behind on the car. Isopropyl alcohol OK to use and not damage the paint or clear coat?

I would go with goo gone. Great stuff. Alcohol shouldn't damage it, but I would still use Goo Gone. A bit easier on the paint.

I find the best way to remove adhesive is actually with another piece of adhesive.
Get some tape and wrap over your finger then press and lift the said adhesive residue off the surface.
No residue and comes out clean.

I agree. Use Goo Gone. It's what I used when I changed my 5.0 emblems.

So you can just pull them off with no issue? I usually have them do it before I take it home. They don't need to be heated up or anything..

Pretty easy to peel up. Slowly.

WD-40 works wonders. Just put some wax back on that spot after. Also works great for tar removal etc..

What this guy said. If you don't have any goo gone, WD40 works just as well. Some make the assumption that it harms the clear but it is perfectly harmless. What it will do is eat the wax, so you will have to re-apply in that area.

was it Helfman Ford? I peeled off the letters by hand and used goo gone for the adhesive. First thing I did when I got it home

I did this immediately upon leaving the lot. Just wet my thumb and rubbed off the residue.
I told the dealership to NOT put a decal on my car. I think I hurt their feelings. :D :headbang:

Me, too. Three times, in writing. Guess what was needed to be removed from the back of the car before I could take delivery....
