Removing wax

I'm a noob to taking care of a nice car, so I have a few questions:

When I got my car 3 months ago, I did a wash, dry, clay bar, McGuire's polish and then Carnauba wax by hand I was told that wax lasts only a few months. I have been using Gold Class wash and hand drying it regularly. At what point do I need to repeat this process? Should I strip the wax with Dawn dish soap and start over ever 3 months or so, or just re-wax over old wax? I bought synthetic spray wax to try the second time around, no white residue on black trim.

I personally strip down to the paint and polish twice a year. When I've done that, I put a coat of sealant. That cures for 24 hours. Then I put a coat of carnauba wax. I reapply the wax about every 1-2 months in between. That seems to get me the "dip your arm into it" shine.

if you strip it once . use a sealer on it a good sealer lasts over a yr , then you can wax over the sealer all you want . i went a diff route with this car my other cars i use to seal ,then wax ever month. this time i stripped the car with dawn, used car pro eraser and c quartz uk the whole thing ..it was new so i didnt need any paint correction cause i didnt even have the dealer clean it lol .. im pretty anal about my paint as im a auto painter by trade so i like stuff looking new
