Thanks for the heads up on Mr. Shoemaker. I'm using the MPVI .Do you have an MPVI or MPVI2? I suppose if a tuner sent you a locked tune you could write it but not 100% sure. Maybe it isn’t any different than loading on an NGauge and then writing it. Rob Shoemaker at PBD writes tunes via HPT, you can hit him up. He writes outstanding tunes.
Thanks manI was under the impression that the Ngauge is a HP type product (maybe wrong). I know PBD does HP tunes.
I come from a platform that had individuals who remote tuned with HPT by sending a file that could be compared against and changes made as outlined by the tuner.NGauge does work with HPT. OP doesn’t want to have to purchase a tune device and wants to buy just a tune and load it via HPT software if I understand him correctly. Not sure if that will work. Maybe he can if he has the MPVI or MPVI2.
Thanks manSince PBD use's HPT, I would think he can send you a file and you could load via MPVI without the need of ngauge ot SCT.
I hope that is the case as I am sending out my MPVI pro to be upgraded to a MPVI2 to use on my 2019 for the same reason.
We offer remote tuning for the Ngauge from both PBD and Lund Racing. Both are excellent choices and come highly recommended by many members here. Lund and PBD currently will not tune on the MPVI2 so the ngauge is the only option.Hello,
Looking to see if there are any reputable remote tuners that utilize HPT? I already have HPT and have been using it on a few other platforms but want to eventually get things going with my new 18 GT. Not looking to invest in SCT or NGauge.
Thank you
Thank you for the informative post Lethal! Good stuff.We offer remote tuning for the Ngauge from both PBD and Lund Racing. Both are excellent choices and come highly recommended by many members here. Lund and PBD currently will not tune on the MPVI2 so the ngauge is the only option.
If you go with the Lund Racing tune they will convert your Ngauge to their firmware so once that's done it's a Lund Racing Ngauge going forward and can't be converted back to the standard HPT version.
If you go with Palm Beach Dyno the ngauge will still use the HPT firmware so if at any point down the road you want to choose another tuner that can be done without any issues.
Give us a call if you have any questions and we'll be glad to assist you.
Thanks!

Does that actually work? I would assume using the N-Gauge encrypts the file or they wouldnt care about sending you the unlocked file.I would do the following:
buy used ngauge
get tune from whoever you like
load tune
read tune with your MPVI
save tune as separate .hpt file
return to stock tune
sell ngauge
flash car with your MPVI and tune you previously read
edit that tune as needed with your own credits
Not sure how they would encrpyt the file to prevent anyone else from ever reading it. This means Ford can't access your tune?Does that actually work? I would assume using the N-Gauge encrypts the file or they wouldnt care about sending you the unlocked file.
@EFI
Wasn't sure if it made it like a Lund tune where you cant read those using the MPVi cable.Not sure how they would encrpyt the file to prevent anyone else from ever reading it. This means Ford can't access your tune?
I've never encountered any computer/tune file that was not read-able and I've looked at quite a few including from tuners.
