Hello Everyone,
Just bought the mustang on 11/16 and noticed something unusual walking up to the back pertaining the rear lic plate mounting position. How many mounting positions does the rear lic plate have? I have not removed mine yet to confirm, but i have noticed that i am able to see two bolt holes that appears to be right above were the dealer mounted the plate. I am about to be livid if this dealership drilled into the bumper instead of using the factory mounting points.
If someone can confirm or has a photo of there mount please attach.
Thank you
Ron

Sounds like they used the European holes. Should be in top set.

they definitely used the wrong holes. They ones on top are the pre-drilled correct holes. the ones below are just dimples where you would drill if you were in Europe. Your plate must be hanging low over the ridge of the bumper instead of flush against the car a little higher up. Just move the plate up to the other two holes and you'll never see the ones your dumb dealer drilled.

Yep, took the car to the dealer today and they were like WTH. They said they will contact me by tomorrow on how they will handle the mistake. The plate does hang low over the ridge. I was going to move it up but now i have nice holes in the bumper.

I don't understand, how could they make this kind of mistake?

He's not the first one -- there's another thread with the same issue.

For once, CA wins. We don't get our plates for new cars for about a month. They come in the mail. So I will be the guy who mounts the plate in the rear, and who chooses to not drill the front bumper until some enterprising young cop writes me a ticket for not having a front plate!
