I have a messed up rear deck speaker in my GT350. My wife shoved too much crap in my trunk and now have a broken speaker. I have the B&O system and I'd like to upgrade (if I'm buying a new speaker, I'm not going to replace it with the stock one), but I'm not ready to go full on replacement of all the speakers, amps, etc.

My question is, since the stock speakers are 2Ω, would you replace the rear deck speakers with one of the few 2Ω ones on the market or just go with a nice 4Ω knowing that it'll be just a little bit quieter?

You don't want to outkick your coverage. If you drastically increase the RMS and Peak power handling, you may not be pushing enough power to get the speaker into it's preferred range and as such, it might distort or sound crappy.

I'd say stick with 4ohm and just buy a nice/modest set of coaxials. Being in the rear deck, you want to focus on robust materials (resistant to UV attack). When I pulled my OE speakers they were shredded and falling apart from being sun beaten (through the carpet).

This is kinda why starting with an overall plan is best, because upgrading stereo components on a bit by bit can be problematic. You kinda have to decide now if you're going to go low level/amp signal down the road. Technically you don't HAVE to, but you don't want to buy really top of the line components if you're not, get middle of the road stuff.

Ah, thought the B&O rears were 2Ω.
Well My 19 GT Are 4 ohm and When I look up speaker replacements on Crutchfield they show the rear deck on the B&O System as 4 ohm?

Yeah, I've already looked. No context clues on mine other than a backwards alphanumeric that doesn't yield any google results.

Mine are like yours. Data shows they are 4 ohm. That pic of the red car must be a lesser system.

Never felt the need to follow my own advice.:like:

It's not like a whole lot fits in there anyway. :D
Speak for yourself. Between the military and law enforcement, I’ve got a lot of ….trunk space.
