I am in the process of upgrading the stereo in my 2019 GT (base model) with a DSP,amp all new speakers and subwoofer. While installing the rear deck speakers, I’m noticing they are aimed directly up and at the rear deck lid. This seems odd to me Ford designed it this way as you would think it muffles sound quality. I’m seriously thinking of cutting holes in that deck lid and putting in speaker grills like we did in the old days. Anybody done this? Comments are welcome.

Aren't they mounted facing up towards the rear glass? I'd have to look at mine to confirm but if so glass reverberates the sound pretty well and will redirect it forward.

Yes, they are but when you look at yours note the carpet like deck cover between the speakers and the rear glass. This is what I’m thinking I want to cut a hole in and place a speaker grill over so the sound is no longer blocked

Thanks, Stang-that second one using the grills is exactly what I’m looking for 👍👍

Ok I took a look and see what your saying. This is the first car I've ever had that I've had no interest in the radio. Too busy listening to the engine roar but yeah I'd guess cutting the grills in would definitely help.
