Are rear coilovers frequently used in roadracing? I'm looking to run rear coilovers for a drag application but assumed I'd check here first as you guys would be the primary users. What rear coilover kits are recommended? Is failure of the upper threaded mount on the body common with coilovers?

I'm not sure there's an advantage to doing a coil over shock in the rear as opposed to a divorced (like stock) spring and shock.

The rear upper stock perches aren't designed to take the forces of a spring+shock and that's usually when we see them break. Combined with non-trivial packaging issues with a spring in that location, there doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to shift to a coil-over shock design.

There are adapters to run standard off the shelf springs in the stock location, unlocking pretty much all possible spring rates and heights, and you can definitely run a top tier multi-adjustable shock in the stock location.

Anyway that's what I'm doing. Got a 12" rear wheel with a 315 tire and a good quality monotube adjustable back there with a spring of my choice in the stock location. Works good.

Its just all road grime back there.

Heres the coilovers off the car. I’m running a stock like spring in the rear (steeda dual rate) cause it works fine for my application. The coilovers came with adapters for std springs but I just left em in the box cause I like the rates I’m on.

Its a custom from propartsusa.com. Made for another forum member a couple years ago and I got them second hand. Very reasonable price when new at the time.

You'd have to contact them to get a quote. Hit me up in a private chat if you want to name drop me when talking to them.
