Okay, I need to chime in.

Why do you, and many other EB owners, compare the car to a GT? You are trying to compare the EB and the cost of add ons to the cost of a GT and looking for justification on your purchase decision? You feel the need to 'smoke' some other car with yours to feel justified in having your car?

The EB, stock, is a fast car. Putting add-ons on it makes it faster. However, like boat buying using what is in the marina to justify what you purchased, continuously comparing your <blank> (add in car, boat, airplane, house, girlfriend, wife, child, lawn, job, paycheck, or any other material 'thing') is going to be nothing but continuous disappointment.

You want to 'smoke' a GT on the dragstrip and roadcourse? You should not have bought an Ecoboost. You should have bought a GT350 or a 'vette. And even if you 'smoke' a GT what does that mean? You win? You win what? Well, just like there is always a taller mast in the marina there is always a faster car... always.

No justification is needed in buying an Ecoboost. There is also no worldly comparison to the car. It isn't the fastest on the dragstrip or roadcourse but it has the best blend of what it does well of any new car out there. It balances the compromises the best of anything in its price range and who cares if a car costing more than $7,000+ is 'faster?' If you do care you are in for a lifetime of continuous disappointment.

Why is it that an owner of a 30 year old Aston Martin can have fun with the car even though it will not 'smoke' even an Ecoboost Mustang?

Turbo upgraded eco will destroy all stock and most bolt on GTs. With most bolt on exhaust, intake, tune and headers a gt will push around 450hp and close to that in torque, ecoboost set up with nice exhaust, tune intercooler, charge pipes and a turbo will push close to 450hp and low 400s in torque, but one thing to remember ecoboost is lighter so it doesnt need to have same hp to keep up

Oh the bench racing. While I don't think that a 500 hp EB is too far away, I'm willing to bet it will require pistons, rods, keyed crank and pinned cams to get there. If bolting a turbo on is a job you can't tackle, look into what the labor installing the internals will cost you. I feel if someone wants 400+ but has to pay labor, that the GT makes more sense, a tune and some axle backs, and more frequent trips to the pump.done.

Just think how deep some of those guys with blown GTs are into their cars.

I don't think it's about justifying the purchase. I've read the same kinda stuff in the GT350 threads. Buying a GT throwing a supercharger on there and other bolt ons and you're close to the power without spending that much for the GT350. Same concept.

I agree with you, there's always a faster car out there than what you have. That applies for pretty much everyone here. But of course we're going to make comparisons to the GT! Why not? That's what makes all of this fun!

Modding a car is always a terrible financial decision. I've got $170 in tint on my ecoboost premium. That's my total "mod" money. Sure when I hit the gas I'd love more power than the ecoboost provides. Then I think about keeping the factory warranty, the 7k I saved over the gt, and the less frequent trips to the pump. After that my little ole ecoboost seems that much better.

Oh okay. I guess there's a whole bunch of us who make terrible financial decisions then. :clap2:

It may be a terrible decision for you, but that doesn't mean it is for me, or the next guy. And simply putting an aftermarket part on your car does not void your warranty but that topic has been discussed ad nauseum so I won't comment further there.

With that said, this car certainly does not need mods to be a hell of a bargain.

Teach me this please. I think this is what I want to feel but I keep getting sucked into numbers!!! I originally only wanted to smoke a soccer mom in her suv.

The most important thing is smoking teenagers in BRZs and Hondas, after that why shouldn't I want to surprise the guy who thinks he's the almighty with his V8 camaro. But I'll do it using cheaper methods like bolt ons, tune and better traction.

Edit: I should also add weight reduction

If you bought this car as a budget GT, you did it wrong. Some people, like myself, simply love modifying turbo cars. I can honestly say that I would've bought the EBM of the cost was the same. I just wouldn't have been happy with a NA car.

Welcome to mustang6g.com

OP, the ecoboost is the better car, I wouldn't even think of trading it in.

When it comes to mods, he who spends the most, in most cases is faster. Doesn't matter about 4 cylinder or 8.

One thing I CAN say about the GT. The Eco will NEVER match the eargasm that is a V8 exhaust. Period.
