True, it will alert you right after he has locked on. :) There are such devices as laser shifters if you believe their marketing. I've never had any experience with them.
Wish I knew how to post those crying emoji's. LOL

I have both the Valentine One and Uniden R7 and the R7 picks up KA way farther. I was shocked at how far the Uniden picks up KA compared to my V1.

Max: It's always humorous to me just how many other histories are like mine. :-)

I too upgraded from a V1 (only to an R3 though,) but as you said, a world of difference. And the V1 hardly ever stopped nannying while the Uniden is quiet as a mouse until it needs to tell ya.

The new V1 gen 2 that just came out beats out the R7 on Ka range now. Not by a ton though.

Bumping this up...

Debating getting a detector. I have never had one and been pretty lucky...hopefully I won’t jinx myself. 90% city 10% hwy...based on my research I am thinking the escort max 360. Decent range but great city manners with auto lockout and less false detections. Someone correct me if I am wrong...lots of choices out there.

Any of the top end detectors will suffice, Valentine, Uniden, Escort, Radenso

However if you are dealing with specialty traps like MRCD/MRCT then Radenso Pro-M or Uniden R7 would be my picks, However I do like the Escort live feature, which I compensate for by using Waze, but still like the thought of my detection saving others

None will help much against Laser unless you use jammers and at that point you have to consider cost/benefit and legality. Not preaching or sermonising, just saying you need to consider the implications. Again Waze can be your friend here assuming you live in an area where lots of people use Waze. So not Regina Saskatchewan

Then you need to spend some time on educating yourself, how they work, identify alerts and generally getting your situational awareness dialed up, learn about rabbits, read the roads like an LEO would to set up a trap, on ramps crests of hills, etc etc.

Treat it like a game or a challenge and mostly use the "mark I eyeballs" to read the road, check your mirrors and pay attention. Helps with your driving too :like:
