Mine look to be getting towards the end of their life with 5500 street miles judging by the outer groove depth.

I got 1000 street break in miles and (8) 30 min track sessions on mine and they were toast. keep in mind I was running the stock alignment, so with camber plates and more negative camber I am hoping this can be extended a bit as most of the wear was on the outside shoulders. I will report back on my experience after the changes.
^ This for me also. I have about 1800 street break-in miles and about 200 track miles. Front right outside is shot (typical at AMP), but some life left in the others. These Cup 2s wear faster than any other street tire I have used. In my sports cars on the street, rears would go around 10-15K and fronts around 20-25K (all front engine rear drive). If these are used only on the street, I cant imagine you could get more than predicted here, 5-10K max, depending on your driving style. However, I will also state, that I have never run a street tire which can compare with Hoosiers (which is what I run on track). The Cups have remarkable performance. Turns out, there is a price for that. :headbang:

How can you tell
Don't look gone too me. Another 1-2 days. I've seen a few folks toss them as soon as the outside edge tread is gone. In my experience, you'll have another 1-2 days after the outside tread disappears depending on track and driving style.

+1

Plenty of time left on those.

Also, they're not "chords" they're "cords"

Run to the cords, IMO, esp. if using primarily on track.

I have 4k miles with ~10 hours of track running on mine, and the fronts have almost no tread left but are wearing quite evenly. They are definitely done for street use - couldn't handle the slightest bit of water - but I think they are good for another 1-2 days on track.

The rears are surprisingly healthy, could probably get a couple more track weekends on them but they'll end up being replaced same time as the fronts. Running -2 deg camber and zero toe front, -1.5 deg camber and 0.3 deg toe in rear.

Camber bolts up front, no plates. With that alignment, the car tramlined pretty bad on the street with the Cup tires, but with Pilot Super Sports on my Signature wheels there is no tramlining at all (and the car is WAY quieter on the MPSS - like switching from sticky summer tires to snow tires on a normal car).

Drove 500 miles including a couple very heavy rainstorms last Friday and Sunday and it was extremely comfortable. With the Cups it would have been terrifying.

1550 miles including 2 track days (one of which was 1/2 in the rain so not even full track day). Everything stock, so probably need to do camber plates for the front. This pic is driver front now, the worst condition tire with no outer groove and middle groove nearly on wear bad --- others still have the outer groove showing clearly and abovewear bar on middle. I guess this makes sense on clockwise tracks, and maybe camber plates will help. I'm hoping to get one more full track day out of the set and will watch close for chords, but no loss in grip.

I have a spare set from the winter Walmart deal, and love the performance of these cup 2 tires but was really hoping for 4-5 track days, a season for me, instead of 2.5 -3 track days. It also would suck to lose half a day if chords start popping out.

I am considering running PS4 at 295 front and 305 rear size --- about the same price but nearly double tread wear rating for 3rd set. Not sure how much performance or wear tradeoff will be though. Best thing you can do is stock up during winter months though as prices are 20%+ cheaper.
That tire pictured has some track life left in it. The outer tread groove starts out very shallow and the tire gets more of an "R-comp" tread profile as it wears. But that is about where they get sketchy on the road unless you can totally avoid rain.

As for the 295 front/ 305 rear ... for street use now I am running SV501s in R-spec wheel sizes with 305/30-19 MPSS all around. There is a slight stretch in the rear but they work on an 11" wide wheel just fine (it is within the recommended rim width range for the tires). I like it much better than the 325s I've seen which really bulge out the profile, and the handling is very good.

IIRC, wasn’t it stated somewhere that the tread width on the PS4S in 295/305 is somewhat comparable to the stock 305/315 Cup 2s on the R? Strictly from an aesthetics standpoint, that could be the best play for those of us wanting to switch to a street tire after the Cup 2s are spent (barring no new tires coming onto market in stock sizes). 305 square is an interesting thought too.

You can check the actual section width and tread width on TireRack. That's where I cross-referenced all the specs before deciding to go with the 305 all around. In practice, tread width and section width is a function of the wheel the tire is mounted on, at least in part, so a 305 mounted on an 11" wheel will function as a very slightly wider tire vs. a 305 mounted on a 10.5" wheel. And the street tires (MP4S and MPSS) are wider in section width vs. the Cup2 at a given size, because they have more rim protection built into the sidewall and, in general, a squarer shoulder profile. The Cup2 tires really are like an traditional R compound in every way that matters.
