Prop Rod or Hood Struts

One minor issue I had with my Mustang was the prop rod instead of actual hood struts.

Does anybody know if the 2015 will use hood struts or will it still have the old fashioned rod.

Hopefully the former.

They haven't opened the hood on any of them yet. At least nobody has posted pics. I hope they decided to spend the $10 this time.

Does anyone think with it being a light aluminum hood it would suggest a prop? I remember my '79 Camaro had struts and I felt like I was going to tweak the hood if I didn't close it correctly. I have no idea though, hopefully struts...

I would be amazed if they don't offer props this time around. They finally seem to be dropping the outdated details like the whip antennae and embracing modern tech like push button start.

It was ridiculous to put them on the current car. It's such a minor cost. It's something you expect to see on a subcompact.

I replaced my stock hood with a Cervini hood, and that thing is heavy. I'm going to buy a strut kit this spring I think, becuase I get nervous with the cheap prop rod holding up my new hood.

Not a dealbreaker, but it would be pretty disappointing.

Ford seems to struggle with little details. Just like my 07 not having a trunk release button in the car. We're talking an extra wire, switch, and dash cutout.

I have confidence in Ford that they will address it, but I've been disappointed in the past, so I still get a little nervous

Haha I was baffled when I found out there was no trunk button in my 07! I'm confident the s550 will have all the amenities we expect in a modern car, I can't get over the seemingly intense attention to detail on this car.

If it were my guess, it'd be the prop.

Struts are nice until they fail.

Personally I prefer the prop. With the hood being aluminum, a prop would be fine.

I say go back to the old school spring hinges like I had on my 65. After 30 years they still worked fine.

No thanks, already a PITA to work under a normal hood, don't need to make it worse by changing how it opens...

Good recommendation. Never thought of that coming stock on a mustang but yea that should be a standard part.
