“Real Mustang enthusiasts use prop rods”. So...here’s what I did so the rod would not mar my white hood.
I bought some 1/2” shrink tubing from True Value Hardware ($3.50), fitted the first piece just past where the rod contacts the hood, then shrank it into place with the kid’s blow dryer! They will never know.
Then, I cut a second piece to cover the every end of the rod, so that the tubing did not stop half way around the last 2 curves. Shrank it down...and was done!
Until I enter the 21st century, I will stay with my prop rod.
