Probably not, unless the leak were so bad that it was causing a lean condition. Pull the engine cover off, start the engine, and look very closely all over any of the stuff you moved or replaced during the injector swap. Even the smallest fuel leak can cause a strong smell.
Here’s how I did it really. The injectors came in and I have to install it as is. I have the extra injectors o ring still in the bag, but they do look really the same size as what’s currently on the ID1050x. Now, the 52 lbs injectors I took off, the o rings are actually bigger compared to ID1050X. Maybe I needed to remove the old one and transfer it to ID?? I don’t think that was necessary because the injectors supposedly a plug and play injectors???

The ID 1050's use an extension cup to make them the same length as the OEM injectors. The diameter of the part that goes into the intake manifold is larger than that of the OEM injector, which is why the O-ring on that end was smaller. There should be a fat O-ring facing the fuel rail, a fat O-ring that goes between the injector and the extension cup, and the skinny o-ring at the end that goes into the intake manifold.

I swore the length of the ID1050x and these 52 lbs injectors are the same. Here is the picture of the leftovers brother.

They are the same length, when the extensions are on them. Notice on your old injector how you can see the spray nozzle? Look at the end of the ID1050x and you will see that there is an aluminum extension on them. In between that aluminum extension and the body of the injector, is another O-ring. Those thin o-rings go on the end that goes into the intake manifold

I may have to remove the injectors and see. I noticed the same smell after installing some 36 lbs injectors on my old 2002 Mustang GT manual before.

I don't remember having extra o-rings, but its been a while since I installed them. It's easy enough to remove the fuel rails and injectors and make sure everything is right. Like I said, fuel leaks are not something you ignore., or you're gonna have a bad time..

Yes sir. I’ll double check and see what’s going on in there. I may have to remove the thinner o rings and replace them with the other and check. It’s only releasing the fuel pressure, rails and injectors anyways like you mentioned.
