Slighty bigger contact = slighty better grip vs same compound but smaller.
Not big science here.

There are many companies selling bigger wheels kit (APEX WHEELS i. E. ) staggered with no extra need to put on.
A common configuration is 285 front 305 rear. With 19x10 and 19x11 wheels.
Or

The squared setup has advantages and cons

Pros.
U can rotate easily wheels all around for better tire wearing (mostly for roadcourse usage)
Car will handle better. (305mm squared is common in mustang racing community
No issues for daily and great choice IF tracking is in the plans.

Cons
Tires cost more
In the front U need longer front studs with 25mm spacers.

Good luck!
I was under the impression that camber plates were necessary as well to properly run 305 up front?

I only casually track my car, so I went 10 inch square with 285/35r19 all around for rotation and to avoid 25mm spacers, extended studs and the camber plates. If 305 up fronts was a direct bolt on, then I would have gone 11 inch square for sure!

Autocrossers know there can be performance benefits - with the right tire. With the wrong tire it may be worse due to increased sidewall flex.

On the street, Iā€™d focus on getting the absolute best tire/compound for your situation and not worry about wider (pinched) tire sizes. Compound matters more. Going wider than the wheel hives dimimishing returns because only a portion of that wider wheel will be squarely planted on the ground, the rest will be curling up due to the narrow rim.

If youā€™re tracking the car on <=200TW performance tires, then we can talk more.

I was assuming the camber plate sorry.
Yes camber plate.
Which i sugvest anyway as FIRST mod for the car
Bigger wheels and better camber.

I have a video i made to show how to remove the shocks
18x10 is a good comprise though especially for people doing 2 -3 events at year.

You need camber plates to properly run anything at the track. Mrr m600 come in 19x11 et24 so spacers and studs not needed.

Itā€™s important not to throw an oversized tire on a wheel if handling is a priority. Throwing too wide of a tire for a wheel will create excessive sidewall flex and the car will handle sloppily.

I ended up just going with the stock recommended setup for the PP1 wheels. Didn't want to fiddle with any spacers so I just went staggered 255/40/19 and 275/40/19. The reason I asked was because when I purchased my vehicle, the previous owner was running 265/35/19 and 285/35/19 but was tracking the car.

For better or worse, I already pulled the trigger on a set of SVE SP2's in 19x10 ET35 (still in box). Realistically should have done more research and gone all the way for 11 square but it's my daily and the less I mess with it the better imo, even if it would have been just camber plates. Also, wouldn't 19x11 et24 poke a lot up front? Throwing more camber at it doesn't seem like a great idea for a daily with just occasional track use.

yes they will poke some. I daily with 2.5 camber. You can retrofit the Mach1 fender flares to your GT and you can buy GT350-style widened fenders for MY18+ cars.

But you're plenty fine with 10" wide so no need to sweat it until such time as you're a good enough driver to use more tire.

Thanks for the info and heads up, the possibilities are great! I agree though, I think at my level and for my needs, 10 inch square makes sense - or at least that's what I'll tell myself to cope! šŸ˜‚
