LOVE the colors, WD but what in the hell ARE those little chingassos?
It’s bead porn for the arts and craft people … lol.

That was a photo swiped off the net, but our girls have the same.

Arrange them on special boards and then iron them :

"Bead porn" was just TOO witty, dude!

With all those colors, I should have known it was art-related, not something else, WD. But WOW on the end products. The person who came up with that idea almost certainly maid a few quid, huh? <big grin> VERY cool and I love the designs.

So, it is "paint by numbers" templates or does one do their own design?

The starter kits have templates to place behind the pin boards, but my girls mostly do random patterns / rainbows / unicorns etc.

It keeps them quiet on a rainy afternoon and my mum has a huge tub of them for when we visit.

Note that the photos above are just random ones I snatched off the net, not ones done by my girls :like:

Finger dexterity, motor skills and patience etc.

My mums tub is purposefully a large tub that's all mixed up - great watching a young one learn and progress with the patience to sort colours perfectly, position them perfectly and then be really careful handling it until it's ironed etc, even if a few have got dropped before reaching the ironing board.

There are a lot of early lessons being taught with something like that when compared to more 'modern' parenting techniques i.e. sitting them in front of a TV or on an ipad etc ...

My Grandmother kept my sister and I busy whenever we visited with a range of arts and crafts. She was into a huge variety of specialist arts; calligraphy, quilling, paint marbling, pergamano, stamping. Of course we both had expert lessons in all of those, something that I remember fondly. Your girls will be better people for it I'm sure.

Obviously, as we age, memories become more and more important and the special ones warm our hearts every time we remember.

So, you inherited your penultimate attention to detail from your grandmother, eh D? :-)

I did, but not from that Grandmother.

My Grandmother on my moms side, who I described above, was my best friend. She was also a nurseryman, so I sort of followed in her footsteps. I also inherited the "worrying" gene from her. While I spent more time with her than a lot of my cousins, I felt like I lost her just as I was becoming an adult, so I wish I had just a few more years with her.

My Grandmother on my fathers side I lost when I was only 11, and again, she was my best friend. From everything I knew and was told since, THIS is where I inherited the obsessive attention to detail. She was a character and doted on her only two grandchildren. But she was also very particular in how she kept her home, how things were always in their place, and how she dressed and did her hair. She was very much a pretty lady, in contrast to my other grandmother who was very much a farm girl.

I'm sorry, this is way off topic, but these two women shaped who I am today, and I miss them so much. I also feel like they were the only people in the world who ever understood who I am.

No apology necessary my friend, this place like so many others, is all about communicating and sharing information, experiences, lessons learned, and any damn thing else we would like to discuss or share. <smiling>

I too had two completely different grandmothers but one was from Germany (paternal) and my Mom's mom was a farm girl who I wished I could live with. :-) So, I feel what you said about yours and enjoyed the read immensely...thanks, dude.;
