Hi @roland@pcmtec. Had a thought, Do you have any I/O plans to open up a channel into the stock ECU where a ground signal can be applied or removed to kill timing, add a limiter and all that good stuff from external device.
the SDM330Dl has a bunch of maps that can be made then when it goes into alarm it will fire a output for engine protection.

I don't know what engine protections can get programmed via PCMtech for boosted cars on the S550 platform mainly the 2015 that never got a real oil PSI sender.

on the SDM330DL I have it flashing on all the generic maps that a standalone would have. LEAN, LOW Oil, FUEL at given boost pressure & EGT and coolant pressure.

We do have plans to remap IO eventually. Currently we have canbus flex fuel. If you send a canbus signal that emulates the zeitronix it would switch to the alternative map and you could kill timing.

Or you could simply put the IAT signal on a relay and set it to -30deg putting it into Fmem. Probably simpler and cheaper.

Other than low pressure is there anything you would use it for?

I did not think about the IAT :-)

I think it would be over / under temp, pressure would be great.
depending on how far you want to go EGT, Overboost. Mine also has lean cut to open the waste gates.

Side note a dash warning or a CEL that a nock event occurred would be awesome. Have that run engine protection inside the stock ECU but have a readable code to scan and confrim.

I’m just trying to figure out in what ways my old commodore was saved by the Haltech.

Drives me crazy on the S550 going blind and no knowing how it’s going. I feel a lot of these coyotes are junking themselves from not having good engine protection when adding boost / spray.

but it’s always knocking, you’ll get that light all the time

Wonder if freeze frame data would store for an event like that. I agree, you'd seec that light a lot given blower noise, gear clash etc.

Could disconnect the iat sensor at idle and see what freeze frame captures.

Just a shout out to pcmtec…often times in ford tuning you run into mystery throttle closure. Other software tools allow logging of parameters like ”torque source” and “throttle angle source” that can sometimes point you in the right direction to find the reason, but sometimes you get the dreaded “torque red. < driver demand” with no other clues. Well much like the editor, the pcmtec logger has a mind-blowing number of parameters available for logging. I began logging as many throttle and torque sources as I could find and happened onto “torque source drive by wire”, which immediately revealed “transmission torque truncation”. This parameter does not exist in other competing logging tools. The transmission torque truncation was set over 700 ftlb so I thought it was high enough but it wasn’t. Apparently the ford torque input calc accounts for torque converter multiplication. Anyway, after changing just a couple of numbers in the tune, the throttle opens and stays there.

Update coming out shortly which has the following Roush/Whipple/FPR strategies fully mapped and supported. These are all from users who have sent in their stock reads, we will continue to update this list as users send in stock reads of Whipple/Roush/FPR strategies

You can even add the CustomOS multi tune to the 18+ Whipple strategies with flex fuel support.

There are two columns which indicate if CustomOS support/flex support is available. This is a preliminary list however once we have completed QA it will be released.

We also have a new "R&D/Tuning" switch which drops the parameter count down from ~35,000 entries to approx 8k. This hides all the development entries which are not commonly used making it easier to find the scalars/arrays that are commonly modified. This will continue to be improved with our search having an option to sort on "Commonly Tuned" parameters.

We are also releasing a new product that allows CustomOS for the DIY user. It is restricted to 1 vehicle (however it can be upgraded to allow tuning multiple vehicles). It will be priced at approximately $1k USD. This is essentially a US version of the following product

https://www.pcmtec.com/pcmtec-editor-workshop-1-vehicle

Finally there are large scale changes coming to the parameter categorisation and naming. This will mean we have new views for bitfields (eg spark authority), new axis for shift maps and shift IDs along with other quality of life improvements.

The most time consuming part of this update was the 15-17 Roush Encryption. There tables are obfuscated with some fancy encryption that is intended to hide values, we have now implemented the ability to view/edit these tables and scalars.

Us products have full access to parameters. Aussie products have 3 levels of access. Workshop has custom os access as well, though we be releasing a limited pro tuner diy custom os product (limited to 1 or 2 vins for approx 1k usd).

Pro tuner (diy) vs workshop us products differ in advanced features, high level support (phone, teamviewer and one on one training when appropriate). We have several unadvertised features like bin import, integration with 3rd party tuning devices, bulk binary file conversion etc which we offer the workshop customers.

For example the custom os wizard layout was almost entirely designed by feedback from Lund Racing, same with the feature set, the larger the customer the more input they have into design. We will do bespoke custom os/editor features if you have a minimum spend of 5-10k a month. You can thank Lund Racing for almost all of the custom os features to date, their feedback, support and direction has been invaluable.

We are still continuing to offer free custom os access to pro tuner users if they produce high quality videos we can use for advertising and or training (this will likely end at Christmas).

For example the training videos recently released were produced by a pro tuner user.

Any detailed questions please feel free to send in a ticket htttps://support.pcmtec.com

Edit: general update, along with the whipple/roush support we are now have full custom os as support available for Taurus 3.5 turbo and Ford focus /Fiesta.

We are also working on ignition cut and transbrake across the entire range of 6r80/10rxx gearboxes.

We are also considering custom ecoboost features similar to what Cobb used to provide, eg virtual ve maps and old fashioned wastegate duty tables.
