Since I bought the car used the EBrake has been a little out of adjustment, having to pull higher than expected to hold the car. But yesterday when I let it down it acted weird and now has a lot more tension when pulling up. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon? And what did you find to be the issue. Mine is a 2015 ecoboost base manual transmission.

Jack up the car and take a look. The parking brake adjustment is under the car in the axle/exhaust tunnel. Its a 10mm nut on a threaded rod. If it got stiff it could be hung up on something.

Yes, visually inspect the parking brake cable; it's a somewhat simple mechanical design. A physical problem could be easy to detect.

While you're there, inspect the pads and compare with the front or another car.

Date/mileage of last brake job? Miles on car? Could be the brakes are just worn and it's time to replace the pads.
