Hey guys,

This has probably been addressed but I came up empty on a few forum search combos so I am hoping someone will have mercy and help a noob Shelby R owner.

Car had its first bath yesterday, nothing fancy soap and water but I noticed as I was drying it that the brakes appear rusty? Is this a known issue with the Brembos and how do I prevent / stop it? Never had this happen on any of my other vehicles....entirely different classes of vehicles granted.

Thanks in advance

Normal, don't worry about it, goes away on the first stop.

Par for the course. I just drive up and down my driveway till the rust wears off.

Thank the Lord I almost had a heart attack! What a NOOB lolol

Separate but related detailing question--what is your preferred method of drying the vehicle? In a pinch yesterday I used my blower and soft hand towels to finish and that worked pretty good. Just curious how the others approach it.

Normal. Different cars will do it to different degrees and speeds depending on the alloy of steel used.

What kind of soap?

I pulled my rotors and literally washed them with a garden hose. I sanded them, hosed them off, then repeated at least 3 times. I had zero oxidation, even in 70% humidity.

My guess: OP used dish soap.

Drove a few miles for gas today and they are fine now...thanks all.

Armorall soap, Meguiar's wheel cleaner, Black Magic tire cleaner+shine..high class Wal-Mart products all the way here. Out of curiosity what would be wrong with dish soap tho?

Will look into this...thanks Kurac!
Look into hydes rust stopper. It greatly reduces the formation of rust on the rotors during washes. I just use a leaf blower to dry the car, works well, but the blower alone doesn't prevent the rust.

You can use a leaf blower or anything that will blow air to dry the car. You will usually have to go over some spots with a soft towel that you didn't get the water to fully bead off unless you like to stand there forever waiting for every last drop of water to come off the car.

I use a leaf blower. Works great and I get strange looks from neighbors! :eyebulge:
