  1. Spares for sale

No problem, glad this stuff is finding good homes!
  2. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Just missed the car....didnt really think about the fella/business taking the video. Now some of the social media comments I saw on my wife’s phone were pretty ignorant & callous...really glad to have had so many kind people helping me out while I was in the cast to offset it. Was cool how...
  3. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Thanks much Tom. I did and probably always will have a certain emotional attachment to that beautiful hunk of metal. The flat plane crank model might not ever leave my desk. That said, all things happen for a reason and I have certainly learned to cherish each day and been ‘re-focused’ if you...
  4. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Yeah...that’s about where I landed on the “how did this happen” side of things. Was nuts to get out in that kind of wind and road conditions, should’ve replaced tires at 5k miles, etc. Painful lessons to replay for sure.
  5. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Man that was tough to watch....sigh.
  6. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

There was no rain. The tires had ~6k street miles on them at time of the accident. No burnouts or craziness. Heck it had just been to the dealer late November ~4k miles. Worst part I guess is that I had replacement tires in the basement for the next service appt. :(
  7. Spares for sale

Car was in an accident, these are spares that I had accumulated during ownership and are in "like new" condition...pics below. Please PM with interest. 1) 2017 GT350/R OEM shift knob - $50 2) Shelby GT350 Car Cover and Storage bag - $150 UPDATE: SALE PENDING 3) Rear fascia/valance with "R"...
  8. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

If that thing was anywhere under the hood I would be shocked if it is accessible and/or working tho. No idea where the car ended up. I said my "goodbyes" to it in the salvage yard in Southern MD a day or two after the accident.
  9. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Thanks Jimmy. I do not remember seeing them when I visited the salvage yard (wasn't conscious when they pulled me out). There was no side impact at all thought so maybe front impact alone would not set the sensors off?
  10. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Yes, and if you don't mind me saying please add 5k+ miles (of any kind) to that paranoia list right beside rain. I thought I was still relatively low miles on them at 6k with folks here seemed to be replacing at 8-10k. Could not have been more wrong. I actually never had issues in weather...
  11. I just bought a GT350 now what?

Congrats! Mine came from the same dealership, hope your experience was as great as mine (for real). And fwiw you are correct about the caution with all the LEO in NoVa. When you do decide to ‘stretch’ the legs recommend finding some non-residential backroads and driving them normally...
  12. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

So true...and the reason I already have a "for sale" flyer drafted for my 1970 Buick Skylark. Love the car, has been very fun learning to work on it but I don't want to die in it. And I am first and foremost a driver not a tinkerer so working on it alone will never be enough for me. So this...
  13. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Not sure....unfortunately what is left of the car belongs to State Farm or whoever they sold it to (not sure how all that works). Getting a settlement payment made to USAA by State Farm was one of the few smooth things in the aftermath. It was a ridiculously low $56k, but they paid fairly...
  14. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

It was not that cold...around 60F degrees or so. No clue what actually got under there....I definitely remember the wind gust and what I'd describe as the sound of a wall of sand pelting the Xpel on the driver side just before things went sideways. What I'm sure did not help is I was going...
  15. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

You are correct about it being an ordeal. I did not and will not elaborate much on the legal and/or medical stresses but to sum it up a state trooper who was less than interested in what actually happened showed up first to the scene. No witnesses except me to what really went down and I still...
  16. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah...I was probably stupid for even taking it out. Weekend of Mar4th was the first "Nor'Easterly" in N. Va area...50-70mph winds at its worst. We had been cooped up without power all weekend and Sun afternoon the power came back on, sun came out and I just...
  17. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

You betcha to FORD engineering :ford: And I sincerely hope so...wife has banned it for now. Maybe in time, with good behavior, etc :D
  18. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Thanks all...here are a couple of pics of the last wash. Much better way to remember the vehicle.
  19. R.I.P. HR414....sad story

Hey all, Have delayed making this post about as long as I possibly can...and even now my heart is quite heavy about the car. Glad to be alive and well, still sad about the car. On Mar 4th I was in a freak accident where a large gust of wind blew debris under my rear tires....the entire...
  20. Tracking it, where are you seeing chips?

This will also happen from regular street driving on the Rs...ask me how I know :tsk::(
