Yes, they should be able to tell you if they have an allocation.

Honestly, I think it'll be really hard to get one of the initial allocations at MSRP. IMHO, if you don't have a long standing relationship with a dealership you're going to have to work hard to get one without an ADM. Who knows though, you may get lucky. GL!
If I have to pay more for an allocation, so be it. I want one that is brand spanking new, I don't want anyone else's farts to taint the seats for a car I'll own for the rest of my life. Thank you for the information much appreciated!

GT350's won't get to dealerships until about a year from now. Pricing has not been announced. Allocations have not been announced. Many dealers will not even get any GT350's. It's way too early to start shopping for one.
For you maybe but I've been waiting for this thing for a year already and I've been working at school so I can get this job so I can get this car. I'll start shopping when I feel like I want to shop for it. Whether or not all the info for it is out yet or not.

Just so you know...Brian is a dealer and has sold many cars to folks on this forum. He provides a lot of great info on cars, when they are available, order banks opening, etc. He is just giving you honest information and there is no need to get your 20 something year old pants in a bind.

My dealership only asks for deposits from people they don't know. If you've bought from them previously no deposit is required.

If you're dealing with an unfamiliar dealership find out if the deposit is refundable or not (only you know if you're comfortable with a non-refundable deposit) and get the order in writing. I've seen more than one guy ordering a GT500 get screwed in the end because someone else walked in and offered more money. Suddenly "his" car belonged to someone else. Money talks, and there's going to be some screaming over the initial allocations. If you wait until later in the MY you might be able to catch a dealership with a late allocation and get your order in with no hassle.

GL!
How could the "order" not be a binding contract?

Ditto - Five Oh Brian is a great resource who provides insight which has been of service to those of us navigating the process. Also, what Colleton has posted is what I have seen also when trying to order a speciality model.

I think there is going to be extremely high demand, so if I were going to acquire one sooner rather than later, I would start by trying to locate an existing dealer who sells SVT Mustangs at higher volumes. I would also be thinking about what price you be willing to pay (for this car, I would accept the MSRP as my limit). Last thing I would do is really start monitoring the forums as some of our helpful dealership people provide insights into the allocation process based on the projected volumes.

While you could probably just go to a Ford dealer around the time the order guides are released and place an order, that order might not get fulfilled if the dealership doesn't have an allocation(s) for the car as mentioned above.

If you have an existing relationship with a dealer, you might be able to talk about your interest and getting on a "list", but as Brian mentions, it's a bit early to find anything solid. That said, I do know someone who has talked to his long-time dealership and made a preliminary agreement on MSRP, also with some money down as a deposit.

Ordering for the car likely is 5-6 months out. We will see it in late 2015 as a 2016 MY don't be suprised if it starts to hit dealer lots in the fall beginning of winter. Remember Ford still has a convertible to launch as well as an F150. We have a list at my dealership going we ask for 500 bucks at this time for a "spot" on the list refundable if you back out or applicable to down payment once vehicle arrives. Dealers may or may not mark the initial models up I'm trying to argue against it as I'd rather sell more vehicles than one or two at a mark up. (I don't make commission on the mark up)

My suggestion is to email 5 or 10 dealers in your region and submit an RFP (request for proposal). Ask specifically for their price, their lead time, their deposit requirement, etc. Once you get the lowest bid, email them all one more time with the lowest bid to beat. This takes the pain out of the process of sitting in their booth while they run back and forth to their manager.

And BTW, when you're at a dealership in their little booths and they keep running to their manager....some dealers have the booth bugged and they listen to what you and your significant other are saying about pricing. Have a script and use this to your advantage.

This thread has been useful for me. I don't have any relationships with any ford dealers so I'm screwed on that aspect, but living in Houston can be a positive for once as there are tons of ford dealers within 50 miles or so. I have emailed one (who I had talked to previously about a regular GT) and he said he put be down on his list for more info. Wondering if I should start reaching out to other dealers now or closer to the order date. I think it may be better for me to wait for pricing since I don't want to be the guy who pings a dozen dealerships then has to come back and say "nope, it's out of my budget already"

I am not starting a GT350 list at my dealership until we get actual ordering & pricing info. There's no sense collecting any deposits until we can actually quote a real price. Sure, there will be plenty of dealers willing to take deposits now (and earn interest on your money), but what if they never earn an allocation and can't get you a car after you've waited many months? As a consumer, I'd rather know for sure that my deposit is going toward a real allocation. As for those who are afraid to wait lest they miss a chance to get a GT350? Keep in mind that Ford has already said they'll build these in the same quantities as the GT500's, so anyone who wants one (and can afford one) will be able to buy one. There will certainly be enough to go around.

I have been dealing with the same dealer for years, know them very well, buy many cars & trucks through them, they are an SVT dealer.
The new shelby GT350, will be going through SVT dealers.
He remembers when GT 500 first came out, they only got 6 the first year.
( remember I am in Canada) He had meeting with regional manager today.
He will be getting some, not dates on order guides or deliver times yet.

I will be getting one of the first to land here :))))

Side note: might have to sell kids, a kidney, not sure what all but
I will have one:)

My dealer is a SVT dealer and Steeda to...as a matter of fact they sell almost all of the aftermarket ones sans Saleen.....

I have a great relationship with them as lol I have bought at least three Mustangs two Explorers, one Ranger and one Escape from them.

So yes this car has my interest...just need to wait for more info and of course price.

...then after I go through with my first deployment I'll be able to pay for most of it with cash when I come back as my "down payment"
Are you in the military, by the way?
