Well, stuff is going on sale for Memorial Day and the sales probably won't be any better on July 4th, so it's time to order some stuff. So far, the plan is a McLeod RST, new throwout bearing, braided clutch line, Ford Performance High Load Pilot Bearing, and MGW X-Spec shifter.

I'm mainly wondering if the pilot bearing is compatible with the McLeod, or if it needs a specific pilot bearing. The part number for the bearing is M-700-C.

I bought a Vengeance Clutch from Lethal Performance last summer. They make them to order so it may take a little longer but it's been fantastic. My car is boosted and the stock clutch would slip when I put the hammer down. This clutch holds all 850hp and more.

I looked into their LPX, but not Vengeance. My car will eventually have an ESS G3 kit, but I'll never go smaller than the 125mm pulley. Only 91 in AZ. I don't feel like running octane booster either, and the closest E85 station to me is a 35 mile round trip.

I guess the pilot bearing question doesn't matter. I didn't notice the RST comes with a new one.

Any clutch for the 18 ups should include a pilot bearing with the flywheel so you should be good to go. I have no experience with the rst but ran my lpxhd for over 40k miles with no real issues. McLeod will rebuild your clutch for half the price of a new one once you need it. I just got mine back in and it's basically a whole new clutch kit so can't beat the price. My lpxhd still looked good when I pulled it but I had the engine out so I figured it was a good time to get it done.

Good to know. I did consider the LPX, but I'm planning on buying from Beefcake.

Went with the RST, new throwout bearing, braided line, MGW X-Spec shifter and some other parts I've wanted.

I installed the RST about 2 months ago. The car shifts so much better than before. My only complaint is I do have some chatter from 1300-ish to 1500 RPM under load. My advice is to take your time when installing the pressure plate. The installation guide poorly details how to set the clearance between pressure plate, floater plate, and friction disks. You may have to run through the process a couple of times to get it right.

I'm paying someone to do the install. I've never changed a clutch before and I'll probably mess it up. My car is my daily, so I only have limited down time too.
