How low was your fuel tank when you filled with E85? Im happy with my Aluminator. I didnt blow my stock motors piston rings, I actually busted some piston skirts and broke a cam cap and bent a cam, and lost like 8 rocker arm retaining clips , probably from over revving to like 8500 on accident a few times. Car was running fine and sounding fine with broken skirts and bent cam though, just had a cam sensor code which I thought was some wiring issue but my oil pan was .... chunky.

Do a scope of the oil pan if you can.
Ouch. That’s not ideal. Lol

Fuel level was very low when I switched to E. I disconnected the feed line and drained the tank out as much as I could then put 14 or so gallons in.

What’s the best way to scope the oil pan? Can it be done with the heads and everything still on? I suppose I could also just drain the oil now and scope through the drain plug as the engine will need to come apart anyways.

Arh crap. Sorry to hear that man. Mine stock 2017 killed a piston on start up one day. So now I build a sleeved short block Ready for future boost.

one thing I’d like to know where you running stock headers and no cats ??

when I pulled mine apart I could barely get my finger in cylinder 8 header pipe , due to a fold of metal in the building process. I’m leaning towards this could be a cause of cylinder 8 failures or at least a contributing factor. the opening Being so small , no flow and resulting in higher cylinder pressure , Heat and more risk of destination.
I haven’t seen anyone mention anything about stock headers before , but with my stock headers it would have killed Cyclades 8 for sure if I was boosted at the time.

Yeah stock headers with cat delete. Maybe now with the engine coming out I’ll do proper long tubes since I’m pretty sure you can pull/put the engine back in with long tubes. I just didn’t want to do the install before but it’ll obviously be a lot easier with the engine out.

Not sure if these pictures are very helpful, but I can’t seem to get a good angle towards the outside. This is cylinder 8. Definitely doesn’t look great.

That sure looks like splattered metal across the top of the piston. Maybe edge of piston got pretty hot and melted. Before or after ring land gave up.

Yeah it definitely looks like some chunks. The edge of the piston is also completely coated in soot. The last picture shows a spot that’s more so on the top of the piston, but in picture 3 that line is just a solid soot buildup

Were any of the plugs crushed? That doesn't look too bad, not that you can see much of it in those pics. I would try to get the piston lower in the cylinder and look at it again. I'll show you what mine looked like for comparison.

I’ll look on getting some more pictures today.

No plugs were crushed. I’ll also upload a picture of those today.

Is picture 4 ringland failure?

Yeah pic 4 is the ringland failure. Gen 3. I'll find more, but you can see the pistons that aren't damaged still have discoloration on the tops. That's pretty normal.

Here's what it looks like out of the block. You can see where the pieces were banging around and hitting the top of the cylinder head and piston The cylinder walls were perfect though.

Isn’t that wild how the fractured piston material didn’t beat up the cylinder walls considering all the reciprocating motion at play.
The phrase; Better lucky than good comes to mind.
